I have no problem keeping Kellen Moore one more year. He is clearly helpful to Dak in the film room and on the sideline. Dak is only into year 2 and Rush is a rookie. But this year probably needs to be it.

I think it's a good idea to IR Rico this year. He will be a dangerous weapon but needs more polish as a route runner and blocking This allows us to hold on to Witten, Hannah and Swain this year and move on from one next year.

I really like Joseph Jones. Not only his physical attributes but his mental ones as well. The lid is very smart and driven. I hope that he can make the roster because I don't think he clears waivers. A team like the Colts are desperate for young linebacker talent.

If Zekes suspension is delayed, I don't see how we keep Mcfadden, Morris, and both Smiths on the roster. It will be interesting to see what happens via cuts or a possible trade.

I wonder if they plan to keep Noah Brown with the intent to let Bruce or TWILL walk next season?

Lewis Neal and Taco Charlton. Not a bad influx of new talent on the D line.

Cooper probably needs to play Guard and just let Green play swing tackle. He is talented but not dependable enough to be a starter.

The Raiders are a very talented team and I'm not freaking out about the secondary yet.

Agree most of your post.

I would not put Rico on IR. They can go light at DL until Moore and Irving return. They only have 8 active on game day so keep just 9 when they normally keep 10 or 11.

From the roster planning perspective, Zeke missing the beginning of the season is better than mid-season (i.e. They can keep the other 3 and then figure out who to cut when Zeke returns).

I would cut QB Moore for 1 day at which time they can put Hitchens on IR-eligible-to-return and bring back Moore at least for a few weeks until they have more time to work with Rush.

I wouldn't be upset with going with eight on the DL: Lawrence, Collins, Paea, Crawford, Mayowa, Thornton, Neal and Charlton. I don't think Tapper or Lenny Jones deserve to make it over some of the players we will cut. I also haven't been impressed with Carrell and Ivie enough to not believe we can't get them on the practice squad. We can make it two games with eight and then figure out where to trim with Moore gets back.

Agree with you here for the most part but I don't think we can give up on Tapper this soon.

Moore brings nothing as a player he couldn't bring as a coach.

Rico sounds like his concussion symptoms are clearing. It would be dumb to put him on IR if that is the case. He has shown he can be a red zone weapon. I wouldn't push him off another year.

I agree on Jones. We need some young LB depth and he has been the best of the group. Not sure what Jaylon Smith has to do with the RB position. We aren't going long at LB to keep Jaylon. We are keeping FB Keith Smith. He is very solid. Rod Smith could be in trouble but I think they find a way to keep him. I think we can go with 2 at QB, 8 on OL, 5 at WR, 9 in secondary, 6 LB or 9 on DL to save spots to start season.

Butler probably will price himself off the team in a year if he lives up to training camp performance. Williams signed a 4 yr deal and isn't going anywhere next year.

If this team has any sense at all they cut Kellen Moore. Put him on the practice squad if they really want to but keeping him jettisons a player we could really use and we already know Kellen Moore is not the answer.

I doubt they IR Rico. He needs reps. He's not going to get reps on IR, and I don't think you want to risk the one IR to return slot on him, especially for what's usually a short term injury. Same thing for Lewis, in my opinion. If Zeke isn't suspended to start the year, which I think is pretty likely, then yes its harder to prepare for a suspension then it is if he is gone at the start of the year.

I don't think Rico has practiced for going on 3 weeks now. He is still raw as a route runner and blocking. I'm not sure his jump ball abilities warrant a roster spot yet since his camp has been ruined this year. Designate him to return because you know one of the other 3 will get hurt. Agree to disagree I guess.

When I said Smiths, I meant Keith and Rod. I agree that they will try to keep Rod.

I thought TWILL signed a 2 year deal. My bad. Brice would be the one then.

Your point seems to risk him getting no practice this year. Rico needs practice reps. He needs as many as he can get. What happens if in the 6 weeks before he can come back someone more important gets injured, or in the weeks after? We've already got one of the two slots bespoken. I don't think the team wants to use the other one on someone who's likely to be healthy week 1.

Moore needs to be cut in lieu of losing a player such as Noah or another player. At this point, they can keep that extra RB even with Zeke if Moore is cut. however, I tend to agree in some ways if Moore stays. But release him, then bring him back a few days later or get him to the PS.

Rico probably won't go to the IR. Initially I thought it was a good idea, but with the injuries to Hitchens and Duke Thomas, they would be the 2 players that could return when / if needed. Don't think you want 3 on there then one has to stay on IR. For a concussion, I don't think Rico goes on it at all. Besides I think he said he is ready to return.

I want to see more of Jones too, I think he can push for a spot.
Twill signed a new 4 year deal this off season, and Butler is on a 1 year contract. Will see how that plays out. Can always keep 6 next year if Butler does well and signs again. If they keep 6 this year as well.

I think Cooper will be the LG, seems his overall play is much better than Green, and as far as it seems, cooper has not been getting the injury dings as Green does.

Raiders were a good test, and for not game planning the offense did well, and we were missing players on D, so I am not freaking out either, but I am cautiously concerned a bit.

Good points. I suppose if you're pretty certain that Moore doesn't get picked up, then you could put him on the practice squad.

We'll likely play the 54th man game with Moore a bunch this year.

I like your thoughts.

I don't know about the Rico IR thing though. Not sure I'd do that to him and not sure how that would help him develop any.
