You are 100 pct correct. I found Garrett to be extremely annoying. A talker. The guy that wants to be everyone’s friend. The guy at work that talks a big game but doesn’t accomplish anything. Layer on that he hasn’t done much as a coach and all that talk rings hollow.
If anything. 8 years of no success and the players don't even care about the message. I am a raptors fan. I can just imagine how stale Casey is to them at this point.

Team chemistry is an elusive element and too often defined by those on the outside looking in but the last thing I would do as the owner is allow cameras in the locker room or around the team when they're doing a team function. Booger, in his untiring quest for coverage and exposure, puts a lot of athletes where they do not want to be and if there's a team that should know to keep their mouths shut, it's the Cowboys. The media is not looking for truth, they're looking for nuggets they can use......negative nuggets.

I wouldn't base much on players' attentiveness in these situations unless we can see into all of the teams' locker rooms. Most of these players are not fighting for a position and most have heard all of this before because coachspeak doesn't change much. If the coaches were installing the game plan for an upcoming game, the attention level would be a lot keener.

I do believe the Cowboys are in a rebuild frame of mind and with so many young players the first order of business to get the negative out. Dez and Scandrick might have been right in there observations but that's still a negative and the team cannot have two of the more tenured players in any kind of negative lean because they are being watched by the younger players.

As to which players will be the leaders now, I would hope Big Smitty, Yosemite, Lee and Jones will step up and of course, Dak. Leaders are not chosen by the coaches or management, they're chosen by the followers.

The term "Dak Friendly" has been tossed around but with cutting Bryant and Scandrick are they trying to make it more "Garrett Friendly"?

Although I'm not in the "fire Garrett" group NOW, I do think lack of playoff success keeps players from selling out on the "message". A winning program with PO success breeds a total "in" with the program. Garrett better produce with this young team and sell them on his "process" now!!!
Agree, the fact that Booger had to tell the media he was not firing Garrett puts him in a tough place going forward. A place he and his family do not want to be in.

I think some conversations have taken place within the family on how to best help Garrett and part of that is cutting players not 100% on the Good Ship Garrett.

I didn't have any desire to watch this show. Nothing I've read here has changed my mind. If anything, it's confirmed my initial reaction.

I'm looking forward to 2018. 2017 was disappointing enough the first time around. I have no desire to see it again.

i found it kind of weird when Garrett would get the team together and says give me a loud Dallas Cowboys on 3 and you could barely hear the team say it, hell i was yelling in my man-cave DALLAS COWBOYS!!! LOL.
i was also trying to find out what Dez & Jourdan Lewis were freaking fighting about, it seemed the young players had no respect for him, another reason for the team cutting him?

Yah... “dallas cowboys on 3” mantra is stale and corny. Some of JG’s postgame speeches were from the heart and genuine though

The guy says the right things but seems to be out of touch some with this generation of players and is out of his depth with some of the adversity he has to navigate— though many other coaches would be too

As painful as 2017 was - I couldn't even come on here very often because of my disdain for the game of football last season - the show was well done and interesting anyway. The access was pretty cool to see. If you're a fan of the Boys, and I assume you are, it's worth your while.

Why can't he just have them say "Cowboys on 3"? It seems to be the obvious choice. The players
respond not much different from the way a child would when being forced to do... anything... lol

Nice write-up, by the way.

This production is ALL about the show with Jerry. It is not about winning! It’s about entertainment. This is why for the past 20 years Jerry has spent the overwhelming majority of CAP space on the Offense, when time after time, it has been proven a great Defense beats a great Offense.I know as fans we love to watch it and analyze every little move. It can give us incites into the disfunction of the team, but bottom line, is allowing our Cowboys to be filmed like this a hindrance to our success? Jerry, just say no to the show! Focus on putting a Defense together that can win a Super Bowl!

These shows are prettt heavily edited. Think of the enormous amount of total content that was filmed vs what was actually shared with fans/viewers.

I get it- it’s fun/interesting stuff to watch and makes for good conversation pieces, especially during this time of year when folks are football starved. But, I think there’s been a bit of over-analysis and over scrutinizing done to the AoN stuff. It’s easy to read too deeply into this stuff and go overboard.

Agree completely. All of the "reality" shows (most of them scripted anyway) feed a narrative that's most interesting to viewers. So when there's people out there analyzing what's going on in someone's head based on a photograph, these shows are like full-on, unmistakable personality assessments.

Nice write up!

While there has been oodles of talk about why Bryant was jettisoned the Scandrick situation wasn't talked about nearly as much... But you highlighted a potentially important point about him being a negative influence.

At what point did you guys witness a negative influence by Oscan, or is that something you are projecting because you don’t like him?

I didn’t see it - in fact I recall him laying into the scout team reinforcing Garrett.

He had one good year, and then anointed great by fans and coaches. There hasn't been a DC starter consistently give less effort than him EVER.

It’s voted on by the players so that has nothing to do with it. Fact is players respect him and he is a vocal leader.

Every year we've had documentary cameras following the team around, we've flopped.

You guys know a lot of these cameras were built into the buildings right ? This wasn't like a film crew from Hard Knox. Completely different

Exactly, I didn’t see it either, neither did I see this locker room distraction they call Dez. If anything Scandrick was trying to get these guys in line and Dez looked to be a good teammate, apologizing to Dak far a couple drops, taking coaching from Dooley on his first 5 steps, taking Zeke’s back in the media when they said he quit, right there to celebrate with Dak, Zeke,Witten when they scored.

In football, you're not going to have 53 choir boys, if you do, you'll have the worst team the NFL has ever seen.
Second, I don't buy into all of this leader this leader that, it's X's and O's that win on the field and the Cowboys were one of the worst.
All this other BS is what it is, BS. If we want to field a winner, we need competent X's and O's guys, and a Coach who knows what to do on game day.

He complained about a controversial subject. I'm certain his complaints probably became rants in private. He really wanted to stir up trouble about it but as he said he has to make himself marketable to other teams in case he is gone in 2018.

Go back and watch DeMarcus Lawrence's reaction after ol' suction cup lips ends his rant.
I love the irony. As it happened, Scandrick was "fired".

DLaw cut him a look afterwards too.
