Yep respected him enough that he's gone. Thank God
Player's respected him, coaches wanted him gone. I'm interested to see the new Captains.
A couple big hats need to filled.

Exactly, I didn’t see it either, neither did I see this locker room distraction they call Dez. If anything Scandrick was trying to get these guys in line and Dez looked to be a good teammate, apologizing to Dak far a couple drops, taking coaching from Dooley on his first 5 steps, taking Zeke’s back in the media when they said he quit, right there to celebrate with Dak, Zeke,Witten when they scored.

Wow. I feel like you and I watched a different show. I'm not a Dez hater. Prior to this show, I was with him
until the Seattle game... couldn't defend anymore after that game. However, there are numerous times
in the show where calling him a distraction was putting it nicely.

Seems like many of the guys that cry about their contract or contract negotiations like Ratliff, Bryant and Scandrick... Talented or not, they end up acting like turds.
Even if a player (or any person) has an issue, ideally, there is a time and place to express it - one handles it perfectly. However, valid or not, if it stays that player's main focus, the player and the team suffers. Gotta leave the trash in the can. All those distractions add up to discontent and malaise.

I meant to say: No one handles it perfectly.

Where? You saw one part of him in the Wr meeting where he asked his position coach to not slobber the Broncos.

I didn't need a show to tell me what I observed....Dez was getting man handled by scrubs....at $16 million a season? Hell no.

Locker room chemistry/culture is one of the subjective, elusive, intangible factors that can promote or hinder success...

In watching AoN— a few things stick out as the 2017 season autopsy continues:

1. Adversity... this team had tons of it in 2017. Key injuries to irreplaceable players, and the biggest off field story/drama in years to deal with really took a heavy toll

2. Youth... this team is in a youth movement/rebuild. Lots of inexperience/immaturity/rawness to deal with

3. High expectations... everyone expected success after 2016– so the pressure was on, Every game was a “must win” basically. Their tank was on empty after the Oakland game IMO. Even though they won that one— the Seattle game revealed just how frayed and exhausted the team was from a season of struggle

4. Leadership void... Apart from Lee, Witten, and Dak— IMO there were not a lot of other positive leaders consistently brining unity and focus to the team. On the contrary, Dez was a loud, consistent distraction and annoyance and Scandrick was a negative voice (as a captain!) that did not calm things down

5. Tuned out... I think a large portion of the locker room was disengaged with the message coming from the coaches. They were saying the right things— but there seemed to be little “buy in” from the majority of the team

In conclusion— I think the high turnover on the coaching staff, the release of Dez and Scandrick, and the continued addition of young talented players is setting us up for a rebound year.

Expectations are down but the coaches are playing for their jobs and they know it. This team is now 100% Dak’s to lead as Zeke is simply a non factor in terms of being a leader.

Will be interesting to see how they do— but I think a lot of the changes that have been made will result in a stronger locker room chemistry and culture in 2018

I get that the scout team guys dogged in practice but outside of that I cannot think of anything else that feeds this narrative of the players not buying in. i just think of the first episode in the meeting after the Denver loss and the looks of shame and anxiety of the players is easily apparent as Garrett harrangues them. Then I think of Marinelli's and Bisaccia's meetings where the players were all about it.

For one, that's disrespectful to the coach and he should know better.
Also, the whole fiasco with Lewis ending with Dez walking around while the rest of the team
gathered to listen to the HC.
He was so bad during the Seattle game they cut most of it out of the show.
Nearly every scene in the WR room was cringe worthy.
There's more but why point it out if you don't see it yourself?

In contrast, many are bashing Zeke on the show. I just see an emotionally exhausted young man going through
an unnecessary ridicule by Goodell and his cronies.

It's crazy that we all watch the same things but see them much of it differently. Such is life.

Him walking around to cool some steam after a highly competitive challenge was nothing, that was the only Issue in the WR room, so your every Wr room scene is highly exaggerated, just as your distraction bit.

Hey dude, I'm not here to argue with you. You're entitled to your opinion, as I am to mine.
It's not my "bit" and I'm not the only one that feels this way. Go all the way back to high school or even college.
Nobody would dare act that way then. How is it okay now in the NFL? Where's Lewis? He's with the team
listening to the HC. Did you ever play at any level... any sport? Because if you did and acted like that,
your coaches did you a disservice. Which brings us to where we are now.

Who are you the thinking? Can one of the rookies like Lewis step into that role? I know most would hate it, but what about Heath? D-Law?

Lol...have you played any sports, this isn’t the 1980’s. Coaching is different, players are different. High School, College is way different than NFL, you have more control ,those players fear the coach and you’re dealing with kids, even still you have players that are highly emotional and some who aren’t, you deal with them differently. I’ve played and I coach HS, been to a few NFL facilities on the East Coast through coaching programs, Clinics, shadow programs.
You’re not getting 53 choir boys, and quite frankly you shouldn’t want that either.

Holy smokes, can you imagine the meltdown on this board if Heath is voted as a captain.

It would be glorious!

It'd be glorious, but I don't see the reason for people to not like him. I'll admit, I was very uneasy about him until around 2014, but, starting in 2015, I could definitely see him turning the corner into becoming quite the player. His INTs in the game against Tampa Bay that year showed me the improvements in his game necessary to make me feel comfortable with us playing him. Starting in 2016, I finally realized why Marinelli has been playing him. He's become quite the safety.

You don't have to be a choir boy to respect your coaches. Larry Johnson was my HC in high school... in the 80s.
I've coached youth and HS for 17 years. Not anymore though. I've been to several clinics... DeMatha, Penn State, Maryland,
Baltimore Ravens and a few others. We may have been to some of the same clinics.

I think you're missing the fundamental point here but that's okay. To me, it's obvious Dez's biggest problem is Dez.
He was great until the foot injury and Romo's retirement. I enjoyed it while it lasted. He's gone now. Next man up.

I'm a big Jeff Heath fan. I just love getting the haters all riled up about Jeff Heath.
That's why I always type Jeff Heath when talking about Jeff Heath because if even just one hater
should spontaneously combust from reading "Jeff Heath", that's one less Jeff Heath hater... and that's a good start.

I've become a fan of his as well. He's improved impressively well. Tbh, in hindsight, him getting pile driven by AP wasn't his fault in his rookie season. At the time, I was upset at him for it, but AP was really having an insanely good season that year.

Lol...small world, so you played at McDonough high, I played and now coach at Northern High. I had the pleasure of sitting down with Larry Johnson 2 years ago as he was recruiting a 6’8 OT/DT to Ohio State.
Maybe the same clinics, been to Baltimore Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles,Washington, Maryland,Dematha, 1st team sports. 21 years coaching for me. I don’t think I’m missing it. Dez is highly emotional and passionate and it may spill over at time, not nearly as much in a negative manner as it is portrayed. So I take it you’re from Charles County, Md?
