Watching the Pharham injury again....sure looks like he is faking an injury because he dropped the pass that he knows he should have caught. His reaction is a dead give away.....if your injured...you don't stick your arms out and hold them up. That's not a natural reaction.

I think especially with the injury, he had no leverage. And that pressure would have really been on his head to perform and no better situation to see if he really deserves major money.

Yep, but this entire line of thinking depends on the catastrophic ankle injury. We would have been playing with fire there. What if he balls out (or at least plays pretty well) in 2020? I have a feeling he would have been more inclined to sign elsewhere because he would not have been thrilled with the tag and there certainly would have been QB needy teams willing to overpay. We would have run the risk of starting a teddy Bridgewater or Cam Newton type this season and beyond. Our roster probably is also good enough to have kept us from drafting in the top 10 for at least another season or two given that situation. So many questions.
