I just don't get the Cassel hype. I know he got better later in the year, but at first he was absolutely awful. IMO he only won because he had a great team around him -- a very good defense, one of the best O-lines, one of the very best WRs, and probably the best head coach in football. With even an average team, I think he'll be awful.

I think he's Scott Mitchell II.

But as always, maybe I'm wrong.

To be fair CL, Tom Brady had almost the same supporting cast around him, and he doesn't get the overrated tag. Of course there's going to be a little hesitancy to anoint him since he just started his first season, but he did get better as you said, and that's really all you can ask of a young QB getting his first starts.

I wonder if more than 20000 chiefs fans will show up to games now..

We all know how great those chiefs fans are, loyal and the standard bearer!
Week 16 Miami at KC with KC's record at 2-12 and nothing to play for. The last home game of the year. Attendance for that game was 73,689. The lowest attended game of the year was week 12 when they hosted Buffalo and 73,584 were there.

But Tom Brady got far better results with the same team. He's not overrated at all.

Tom Brady is one of the best QBs I've ever seen. Cassel is a JAG.

Seems like maybe Belichick agrees with me, too. :) He'll pick up some journeyman off the scrap heap to replace Cassel and be happy with his new draft picks.

Yes we should. But then again we should have killed the Rams last year.

those are paid numbers, not the actual number of people in the stands...there's a difference

Pretty good gig Belicheat has going. The protege leaves town, then you fleece him in trades.

Especially when Tyler Thigpen is pretty darn good. Almost a miracle he played so well with what he had last year. I'd die for Jerry to make a meaningless trade for Thigpen. That way we'd have a quality backup who has the talent to be a darn good starter in the league.

Ever watch the games? I do because they are on TV every week up here. I'll admit that many go but far more than 20,000 do. Very loyal fans follow that team.

I agree...scouts loved this guy and had he stuck with football instead of the baseball thing, alot of people thought he'd eventually be the #1 overall pick

They had more talent IMO in 2007 than they did in 2008. And a seasoned Brady had a career year, yes. But he was just that... seasoned. Cassell gets thrown in like Romo, he was basically a rookie, and had a very good year. He progressed very well.... an 89 QB rtg for the year, but 6 of his last 8 games were over 100.

I don't see any reason to call him overrated at this point. No one's proclaiming him to be Tom Brady.

And of course Belichick is going to trade him, I mean he has Tom Brady. Why not trade him? You don't have room to have two high quality QBs who you pay big money to. And it appears Scott Pioli agrees with me. :)

He had a terrible game against the Steelers, prompting some to conclude that he'd been "exposed." I guess he's having the last laugh.

I expect had he played out his college years he'd be playing regularly on Sunday's now. He certainly had all the tools, just couldn't develop the mental stuff despite being very smart. A clear case lose it if you don't use it.

Good move by the Chiefs, now they have one piece of the puzzle taken care of. A young QB with a ton of upside.

I like Cassell -- the blueprint is similar to Brady - guy from a good college program - except Cassell never got the starting role. Neither were the elite skill guys that make the scouts drool but both are smart and good workers.

Kinda shows you what good coaching can do. You don't get that sort of development out of a Wade Wilson-led group
