I just don't get the Cassel hype. I know he got better later in the year, but at first he was absolutely awful. IMO he only won because he had a great team around him -- a very good defense, one of the best O-lines, one of the very best WRs, and probably the best head coach in football. With even an average team, I think he'll be awful.

I think he's Scott Mitchell II.

But as always, maybe I'm wrong.
And because of that, he got PRICELESS experience, that many backup QBs don't ever get.....

Good trade, he has a HOF TE, all they need to do now is go get TJ and he will have a nice set of weapons.....

My thoughts have always been if you get a franchise QB or a QB that will basically be the face of the Franchise, you should get him as many weapons as he needs, u can never have enuff weapons......That what I hate about Philly, u get McNabb and get him no weapons but once in 10 years, awful front office work....

Once again, NE is going to be in the position to deal on draft day and load up on future high picks plus set themselves up pretty this year. Must be nice to have a Front Office with a clue.

Yeah because our front office has no idea how to draft and build a team...

Why get TJ when they can draft Crabtree?

kinda makes you mad at Jerry

if he had been developing a young QB, maybe the young Qb goes on a tear when Romo was out, and becomes a free agent, and we trade him for some picks?

i blame wade phillips for us not having a good backup QB

we had matt moore and good ole wade tried to sneak him through waivers

then we had bartel and we release him to sign bollinger and the browns pick him up

i blame good ole wade,

Come on. With the rare exception of the patriots, how many team has the luxury or the luck of drafting or develop low picks into quality staters for trade?
Heck, the boys has been damn fortunate to land romo. Without whom we would still be searching for our qb.
Besides, if it's so easy. Every team would be looking to do the same.

I might be wrong or lapsed into a coma, but i havent seen the boys holding up too many trophies as of late or even so much as a playoff win for that matter. I would take the front office of NE over our front office any day of the week.

Are we that good or that ARROGANT to think we dont need anyone that is or was out there in FA land??? I might have to add stupid enough to that question.

You really blame Wade? When did he become the GM?

Didn't you hear Jerry say that he, himself was the man on all the decisions?

We aren't losing because we have crappy players.

We lose because are players find incredible ways to lose.

Let some of our guys hit the open market and see if they dont get big bucks.

This team is rediculously talented so spin it however you want but they are underachievers bottom line.

We do have some holes to fill but we still have Demarcus Ware to sign.

Please dont be the guy who goes into panic mode during Free Agency.

To be fair CL, Tom Brady had almost the same supporting cast around him, and he doesn't get the overrated tag. Of course there's going to be a little hesitancy to anoint him since he just started his first season, but he did get better as you said, and that's really all you can ask of a young QB getting his first starts.
I think Tom Brady proves how talented that offense is right now. Look at his numbers historically. Then look at his numbers with Moss, Welker, and that O-line.

It's a huge difference. Brady was never even close to "record-breaking QB" territory until 2007. Then bam. That's a great comparison of how surrounding talent makes a QB look better. And with that it made Cassell look like an average to above average QB. Without that, he should be below average.

Well Cassel looked about average early in the year and progressed to above average. And they still finished 11-5.

2007 is an aberration in my mind. Brady's not going to do that again this year, probably something closer to 13-3 or 12-4. If you can stick essentially a rookie QB in there and you're at a difference of 1-3 games, then I'd say that QB is pretty durned good. JMO.

Brady could easily be a below average QB on the Chiefs squad, as it's currently built.

I just don't see any reason right now to claim Cassel's overrated. He's not being touted as one of the greats by anyone really, and he's only started one year.

Patriots will probably turn that 2nd rounder into a 2010 1st rounder.

What a well run franchise.

For a 2nd?
Cassell is not a good QB, but after last year, I would of figured a team with QB needs would of given a lot more.

How did a franchise player only cost a 2nd? I thought it was a least a 1st?

I believe it's two 1sts if the franchise player is signed by another team as a free agent... ie. that never happens. Once a team places a franchise tag on a guy though, they are free to trade him for whatever compensation they deem fit.

It's sickening around here now. People running around in the streets buck naked thinking they raped the Pats, they keep the 3rd overall pick and are going to the super bowl now.
