Chiefs | Running back a draft priority?
Fri, 20 Apr 2007 08:12:39 -0700

Adam Teicher, of the Kansas City Star, reports the Kansas City Chiefs have met with some of the higher-profile running backs available in this year's NFL Draft, including California RB Marshawn Lynch and Ohio State RB Antonio Pittman. The Chiefs may look to draft a running back to serve as a backup to RB Larry Johnson. The team may also be willing to trade Johnson if the right trade offer came along.

Maybe the Cheifs should be more worried about who's gonna block for sadi running backs?

Their offensive line has deteriorated from one of the league's best units to a trainwreck.

Herm Edwards - No one knows how to take a playoff team and run it into the ground like that guy.

"Even Edgerrin James can't run in Arizona." - old NFL proverb

Wasn't Alexander shopped a year or so ago? And the Hags found out they could not get much for him?

I think both he and Edge were available for 2nd round draft picks - neither team found any takers.

It has to do with age and salary particularly at the RB spot.

I normally don't like bashing non-Boys fans, and I don't think he said anything wrong, but something about that sentence just made me spit my rootbeer out. well played!

It's the sammich line....it is always funnier saying sammich instead of sandwich.:laugh2:

Now back to the topic of LJ.

Am I losing my marbles or was it not just a few years ago that it was rumored they offered LJ to the cowboys in a trade?

This was when Priest was still the starter and around the time that Vermeil made the quote about LJ needing to grow up or something along those lines.

Sounds familiar to me.

And I think they were looking for less than a first rounder in return.

Let me try this one.

Yes you are losing your marbles.

Yes they were shopping him around when he couldn't run behind one of the best lines in football and was playing behind one of the best runners in football. :p:

Don't they already have a vet back there in Michael bennet? He was averaging 5.6 a pop....but they only gave the ball to him 36 times. Why draft another rb? That offensive line is going to have probs this year...:bang2:

Herm is the BEST COACH:laugh1: ... what with him benching Huard after him winning 5 games for them.... and watching as Trent Green throws away thier season after coming back from near-career threatening injury, then proclaims Green will remain starting qb.(even amidst trade rumors) And of top of it all, Herm calls 35 running plays a game to LJ, wearing him down to the felt. Herm could just do what he does best:running a play-off caliber team into the ground, and taking a borderline HOF-caliber running back into the ground like LJ ( Herm also had Curtis Martin Carry the ball a personal record 371 times in 2003, his 10th in the league, no wonder he was finished the next year.)

This may make a lot of people lose their lunch...

...but I am pretty sure all they wanted in return for LJ was none other than...

...Antonio Bryant.
