The Cowboys have 10M in cap space. They could acquire players if they wanted to go that route, but this is a developmental year and they would likely only be interested in veterans that they see as contributors in the future as well as this season. I don't see any reason that they would be interesting in Flowers this season. They have to keep some spots open to develop young players.

The one reason I could see them do it is if they have plans to let Carr go next season. Flowers would be a better fit and is cheaper.

Yes, if they could somehow swap out Carr with Flowers this year I could see it; however, it would be a tough sell to pay 5.5M to Flowers this year in order to save money by cutting Carr next year. Flowers would have to be claimed and paid the 5.5M. If he goes unclaimed, I don't see him signing here.

The NFL combine results list Flowers at 5'-10". Still not tall, but it isn't 5'-9".

The KC defense was bad last year. During the last 8 games of the season they gave up the most yards in the league. Yes, even more than Dallas.

The speculation is that Atlanta is interested in Flowers.

The official number is 5096 which is 5'9-6/8" which reduces to 5'9-3/4".

He is therefore closer to 5-10 than 5-9, but the first number in his actual height are 5-9.

They could lower the cap hit by turning some into bonus if they needed some space for this year. But that's just if they took his current contract. It will be interesting if teams let him pass through and can get him any cheaper.

They've got the cap space. I like to look at the running multiple year cap total. It would add 5.5M to the multiple year cap total.

It seems like a bad team would just claim him. It would be a bargain to get a Pro Bowl CB for 5.5M for any team that didn't already have big money invested in the position.

Another cast off, another fan wants him for Dallas. Hey, some guy was cut form the raiders, LETS SIGN HIM UP too. Woohoo. And why is it every fan thinks every player wants to play for Dallas, they want to play for money, so he goes to whoever hoists the most green at him. Most likely, not us,

Another post denouncing people that are interested in a cast-off player. Try something original next time...

ok, what else is it, no matter the player, the scheme they dont fit in, teh defense they may not fit in, everyone thinks every other player is an immediate upgrade, why is that?

Yes, it's often silly; however, after thousands of them and thousands of corresponding denouncements do we need to keep pointing out that it's silly?

If somebody with a recognizable name becomes available, they will be linked to the Cowboys by fans and/or media. It's inevitable. Flowers might be slightly more interesting than some of these types of posts.

Probably because our team isn't very good.

Flowers is actually a pretty good player, and he's still relatively young. I see nothing wrong with discussing it.

The team likely isn't interested, but you never know. He is the type of player they are trying to get on defense (tough and feisty).

its not so bad that we need every cast off, and i got news for it, its not the players everyone should be clamouring for when they are released, check the coaches if you are going to upgrade thsi team.

If this team was honest about the FS position and if Flowers could be signed to an affordable deal, the team could lock him up and slide Carr over to Safety. The argument will be is you don't pay Safeties the kind of money Carr makes but he's already getting the money regardless. Carr showed his first year here he can handle the position. Worst case scenario is you have a competent starter if Claiborne doesn't turn things around. Best case scenario is on most passing downs you have four guys with very solid man coverage skills.

Which Secondary helps us more this year ?
CB Brandon Flowers
CB Morris Claiborne
Nickelback Orlando Scandrick
SS Barry Church/JJ Wilcox competition
FS Brandon Carr

CB Morris Claiborne
CB Brandon Carr
Nickelback Orlando Scandrick
SS Barry Church
FS Matt Johnson/JJ Wilcox competition

Or specifically, Brandon Flowers vs the JJ Wilcox/Matt Johnson competition?

This offense gives us the ability to compete with almost anyone. Our defense can't stop good teams. Anything that improves this year's defense is a win.

This seems lime what will happen. I would sign him in a heart beat though. With him you can make a big leap in a transition to more zone friendly corners. I see the boys waiting and seeing what happens
