I have made a decision to release Chip Kelly this evening. I spent the last three seasons evaluating the many factors involved in our performance as a team. As I watched this season unfold, I determined that it was time to make a change.

As we move forward, the search for a new head coach will begin and will be led by myself, Don Smolenski and Howie Roseman. To the extent that we are able, we will try to keep you informed as we go through this process.

Pat Shurmur will be our interim coach for the Giants game Sunday.

We have also released Ed Marynowitz, vice president of player personnel. Tom Donahoe, who has been our senior football advisor since 2012, will assume the role of senior director of player personnel.

I am determined and excited to select a new coach to help us obtain our ultimate goal.

Thank you for your consistent and enthusiastic support. It is always appreciated.

Sincerely,
Jeffrey Lurie
Chairman and CEO

Might work........they could call him CowChip.

Nah, Strong is strictly a solid no-BS guy, and Kelly is just BS.

Charlie Strong is a solid no BS guy that is in over his head and belongs with a Louisville type program...Texas is to big, to demanding for mid level no name coach that doesn't produce...Look what Michigan did with Harbaugh... Texas is dying to compete on the national stage and cannot compete with Charlie at the helm.....

If your a longhorn fans,, you want the Longhorns on the phone trying to work something out with Chip......Charlie needs to pack his bags...go to Miami and play small school football

Yep. Wanted to say the same thing.

True but Marvin Lewis and Bill Cowher had some losing records and their owners kept with them. The Jones obviously believe in Garett and sometimes change is not always good for change sake. Players quit on Kelly, I haven't heard anybody quit on Garrett. The most important thing we need to remember with Garrett is that it is a process. Lol

I love how these media types are piling on Kelly now.

They were basically anointing him as the next big thing not long ago.

I don't like him in the least, but this garbage from the talking heads right now is so nauseating.

They were all smooching him right between the cheeks a short time ago.

Now they are acting like that never happened.

Well, at least the e-girls organization has the balls to admit mistakes with coaching a personnel, and not keep convincing themselves theyre a player or coach away from a championship.

Be shocked if he doesn't end up in Tennessee.

Yep, the Titans don't have a head coach right now, are playing awful, will probably have the first pick in the draft, and they have this QB that Chip kinda likes.

I would bet next month's mortgage payment on my house that Chip ends up in Nashville.

Even Red clapper wouldn't have screwed the Eagles franchise this bad if he was their coach. Chip did a real number on the franchise.

Yep. Remember after the preseason where they scored like 40 per game?? Slob fest. Media guys are shallow as hell!
