It was an old, used-up, declining roster of has-beens. It had it's last hurrah that 11-5 season. And then, yes, it quit on Wade because he is not a leader of men. This teams plays damn hard for Garrett.

Garrett has been tearing down and building back ever since. There's only a small handful of players left, and now Dallas has one of the most talented young rosters in the league. It still needs another draft.

Dude, you just need to learn football.

This is a parity driven league. It doesn't take 5 years to build a team anymore.

Not when you play is a bad division and with a franchise QB in place.

Dude, you just need to learn football.

You're either ignoring or missing the point.

When Parcells was hired, both he and Jerry talked extensively about that long meeting where they made concessions to each other to make this happen. See, you weren't going to just offer Bill Parcells the job to walk into Valley Ranch and be Jerry and Stephen's coffee runner like you would with Wade Phillips or a Chan Gailey. Jerry had to promise to go half-lunatic to land the Tuna and Bill had to promise to ease up on his tyrant ways and respect the owner and his chubby son. Pretend they're legit.

What you got was a watered down Parcells and he still managed to turn the roster and the direction of the team around.

Garrett didn't get that kind of power. How could he from this owner? He lacked a resume. He's not dealing with the same hand Bill was dealt. So it's unfair to compare the two.

    LOL.

How in the heck could the Cowboys have one of the most talented young rosters in the league when any objective observer would tell you they lack almost an entire defense?

This "rebuild" was pretty much forced on whoever the coach was going to be, thanks to the fine personnel decisions of Jerry and the outstanding cap management of Stephen. You had to go young. You had to focus on the draft. There wasn't another alternative.

When you are completely cash-strapped because of horrible contract decisions, and your offensive AND defensive lines are horrible, then it takes time.

8-8 three years in a row with a chance to make the playoffs in the final game is nothing short of miraculous. That's because of Romo alone because he's been running for his ever-loving life.

Garrett has replaced the entire offensive line other than Free, and the entire defensive line with only Spencer remaining as a part-time player. The only linebacker left is Sean Lee. The entire secondary has been rebuilt. The entire receiving corps is rebuilt other than Dez.

Garrett and Will McClay changed all of that.

This really isn't that hard to dissect.

And you're ignoring how Parcells greatest coaching job here was his first year, when he hadn't had the chance to reshape the roster. But he got every ounce of everything our horrible roster had, and out coached the opposition on the regular. He got 10 wins with Quincy Carter and a JV roster.

Jason has had an elite QB his entire tenure here and he's yet to get over 8 wins. Three play callers. Three defensive coordinators. He's in over his head.

There's a bit of leeway here in the Rant Zone but personal attacks even if disguised aren't tolerated.

So you don't like Scandrick, Church, Wilcox, McClain, Crawford, Lee, Carter, Hitchens, Lawrence, Melton, Durant, Patmon, Moore or Mincey?

They hardly need an entire defense. They need 2-3 guys.

And Garrett had to fight like crazy to get Jerry to release Gurode, TO, and other veterans. He had to sell it hard.

Did you just ask me if Jeremy Mincey and Sterling Moore are making me reconsider?

Not really, no. Half of those guys are JAGs.

Every great defense has some JAGs that manage to be productive.

Dixon Edwards, Robert Jones, Brock Marion, Larry Brown, Jimmie Jones, Godfrey Myles, Chad Henning, Isaac Holt......

Bill Parcells is, IMO, the greatest head coach to walk a sideline. At an age when Tom Landry was running the Cowboys straight into the dirt, Bill was turning the team around while carrying Harry and Lloyd on his back.

I agree. Jason Garrett is no Bill Parcells. Odds are. Like the odds of you not winning the lottery.

But, what you're not grasping is the concessions made to Bill. Let me be blunt here. Bill had to know he was not going to be treated the way the prior coaches were (Switzer, Gailey and Campo) and how the coaches after him have been (Phillips and Garrett). He needed power. He had to command his own locker room. The owner could not be the voice and face of the team. Otherwise nothing would change.

It's only because of that culture change (another buzzword during the time) was he able to will that sad sack team to 10 wins. Which really was a bad thing anyway, as it prolonged a real rebuild and the move to a 3-4 defense.

So basically you're saying, Garrett sucks because he couldn't do with no authority what Parcells did with plenty of it.

Every one of those guys except maybe Brown would start on this defense.

That group is far superior. Please tell me you didn't compare this group to Mincey, Moore, Patmon and Hitchens.

    Please tell me that.

    Exactly right.

That team had a depth chart of very good players. This team has stiffs starting on defense.

None of them did crap when they left here. Defenses need role guys. Dallas has some role guys that can play now, as opposed to Drake Nevis, Everette Brown, Jason Vega, Bryce Popinga, etc, etc, etc.

Yes. He was caught in the act of pretending to be a character on the Internet. Juvenile trolling that didn't even have the benefit of being interesting or clever. So it goes.

Yea, wish we had one of those REAL coaches, like Andy Reid. He would never, at 7-3, allow his team to lose to an 0-10 team. That stuff never happens to real coaches.
