Chip won a crappy division that required he beat nobody of significance, which he didn't.
Funny you say that since JG couldn't do the same in that crappy division 3 years in a row.

But this is pro football, not a succession of teams with vastly lesser talent that he can pound with his Nike-bought players.
He wears out his own team as much as the opponent. And his team has to do it every Sunday, not just now and again.
And many of his skill players are free agents this offseason.

Kelly's system offensive scheme is actually pretty simple because it has to be. They are running a lot of package plays and you can't go at that pace if you're having to audible and send guys in motion. Even Kelly has said that nothing he is doing is really different or revolutionary.
The thing is that ESPN can never get enough of praising the Eagles. They did it when Andy Reid was there and now it's with Kelly. Had Dallas lost 53-20 to Green Bay at Lambeau with our 4th string QB, ESPN would spend the entire next day laughing at the Cowboys and state that there is no excuse for losing to the Packers that bad. But, when Philly loses ESPN more or less acts like it never happened. I saw they said 'Packers ground Eagles' and left it at that.
I don't think the system is perfect, far from it. But, every system has its flaws. And so far Kelly has proven to be a good coach. It's just that ESPN likes blow smoke up their butt on a constant basis.

Love your name for his offense. You notice how everybody (talking heads mainly) are talking up old school football now? They are even talking about how KC hasn't thrown a pass .... did ya'll hear me ... thrown a pass to a WR all year. I may be wrong, but probably not. They say Andy Reid is winning playing 1930's football. Imagine that.

Garrett had to completely rebuild a roster, which he's still doing. Next year is really the year. He had to win over Jerry to stop the nonsense and build a team the proper way. That is a miracle in itself.
And please tell me who Kelly has beaten. Much like at Oregon, against a weak team, he sometimes looks like a genius. But just like Oregon, when he plays somebody that can really play, he gets his butt handed to him with both hands.
But that's disingenuous. Garrett is trying to undo Jerry's mess. He inherited a horribly backwards roster.
And Garrett is the only coach in the division that has had his team in Week 17 all three years. That's even with disasterous offensive lines the first two years, and the worst defense in the NFL last year.
He purged the roster and rebuilt it, and still managed 8-8. (Actually, Romo is the only reason they got to 8-8 with those teams.)
Another offseason is still needed for this team to become truly elite. This season is a bonus.
I think the main reason Kelly runs the up tempo, hurry up offense is too keep teams from making substitutions. Defense tend to use a lot of groupings be it nickel packages, dime packages and just the ability to rotate guys in and out. Kelly offense does not allow you to make those subs.
Team JG inherited a team that won a playoff game year before he inherited. He had a top 5 qb and a top 5 pass rusher. Two positions most teams don't have at the same time. He had enough talent to win.
He could have won the division last year if he was a half a coach you are making him out to be. A good coach does not lose that GB and Detroit game from last year.
Correction for you - Thrown a TD pass to a WR. They have indeed thrown it to WRs this year, lol.
Pretty amazing how in the span of two paragraphs, you go from condemning Kelly for losing a game without his starting QB, to making excuses for Garrett losing a game without his starting QB.
I don't really care about what's happened in the past, whether it's a year ago or three years ago. I don't care about who is a perceived genius or idiot. And I've been one of the biggest Garrett detractors around, I think.
That said, this team here has been built to win, while at the same time being very, very young. When healthy it's looked like a top 5 team in the league. I don't know who gets credit for that, but if you asked me if I'd rather be a Cowboys or Eagles fan right now based on the front office, coaching staff, personnel and chances of winning a Super Bowl, it's a no brainer decision to me. So, I say forget about assigning credit and blame, and just keep on keeping on with "the process."
So Garrett should get six years before we can judge him, but you've already decided after a year and a half (that included a division title and playoff appearance) that Chip Kelly is overrated? Are you serious? I would be embarrassed to post nonsense like that.
By the way, since you want to talk about rebuilding rosters, this year's Eagles team features FORTY players that were not on the roster in 2012 when they went 4-12, so please don't try give me excuses about Garrett having to rebuild a roster. Kelly has done a remarkable job in Philly and he's only just getting started.
This is as ridiculous an argument as the people who try to discredit the Cowboys for being 7-3 with only one win over a team with a winning record.
Kelly has coached in 27 games, and he's won 17 of them.
People have been saying that Foles might not get his spot back when he's healthy because of Sanchez. The difference from Tony to Orton or Weeden is much larger than any gap between Napoleon Dynamite and Dirty Sanchez.
I think Kelly is a good coach and is doing a good job in Philly, but the difference between his starting and backup QB is much smaller than the difference between Romo and his backup.
