Parcells was an incredible NFL coach and talent evaluator but 50/50 with his 1st round selections over the span of his career.
Some of his notable mishaps were corrected by head strong owners, for instance in 1996 with the seventh pick in the draft Parcells had his heart set on defensive end Cedric Jones but Robert Kraft refused and insisted upon Terry Glenn as a threat for Drew Bledsoe.
Glenn went on to become a Parcells favorite an ironic occurrence in light of what happened on draft day in 1996.
James Farrior was initially a bust when drafted by Parcells but he's turned around his career and since become productive after a slow start, maybe Bobby Carpenter will follow suit.
The 2000 draft saw the Jets which Parcells gmed at the time, with 4 first round picks, they ended up being Chad Pennington, Shaun Ellis, Anthony Bect and John Abrhams.
Ellis and Abrhams were solid, Pennington average and Bect a wasted pick.
In Dallas Terence Newman is a star, 2004 had no first round pick due to trade and 2005 landed two starters in round one, 2006 saw everyone's favorite whipping boy Bobby Carpenter join the team.
So for every Willie McGinest, DeMarcus Ware, Ty Law and Terence Newman he drafted, Parcells had Anthony Bect and Bobby Carpenter to answer for.
