My wife was discussing this at dinner tonight. She said that someone called into a local radio station and complained that when they called to vote for Chris, it would say "Thank you for voting for Catherine". Anybody else hear of this?

I wouldn't be surprised, American Idol does that kind of stuff. They tell the judges to say that such and such was awesome (a.k.a. Mandisa), while such and such were horrible (a.k.a. that 16-year old that is not Paris "Pugface" Bennett), when they were nothing of the sort.

that 16-year-old was getting every type of praise that they could throw out, and while her singing didn't exactly take a nosedive, the judges suddenly switched tracks and said she was horrible.

Mandisa, on the other hand, didn't sing well (IMO anyway), yet the judges said everything possible to please her (Church of Mandisa reference). The thing that makes me wonder is...Are the judges (Simon mostly) doing this because they feel bad for what they said about her being overweight?

IIRC, the same thing happened to Clay Aiken, ppl voted for him, and for some reason, Studdard got the votes. Is it planned, or by mistake?

i think taylor is a great singer...just a little erratic.
i think elliot should have been voted off a long time ago.

the jury is still out on kat..........but man.....she is so smoking hot, who cares? right? my biggest gripe about kat is the way she don't shake that sweet figure of hers around a little more!

chris daughtry on the other hand had the perfect combinatoin of vocals, looks, and stage awareness that should have won this competition.

this is just my opinion..........bo bice should have won last year as well.

I agree with everything you said..
Elliott is overrated and I think he is only still there because the judges for some reason rave about him...
Bo BIce I think should have won last year , I think he was in a class by himself and I do not think there is anyone this year that is better than Bice

Exactly.

Before this, there was speculation that Chris was gonna sing lights out one day, and then the next week, he would quit, so he could get all the publicity, and, as you said, make the music he wants.

Maybe American Idol caught wind of that, and rigged the voting, as one of the above poster's story suggests.
