Chris Whaley

Whaley has stud written all over him!!! Mannnn we're going to be eating QB's lunch this season even before Hardy gets back, this is who I believe will be in the rotation.. It feels good to finally have a collection of guys that can go get the QB > Mincey-Crawford-Lawrence-Gregory-Whaley-Russell & then BOOOOM when Hardy gets back

he's my boy from college. whaley will be in the rotation this year. just watch folks.

I believe he's the reason why they were ok with not picking Malcolm Brown in the 1st round. He is almost as good as Brown was in college and would been drafted higher if not for the injury he had. Plus we didn't have to use a 1st rounder to get him.

well here you go

That's my first time watching film on Whaley... especially liked the last part... dropping in coverage to pick it off and score showed athletic ability... also noticed
he split a lot of double teams, including USC... definitely looks the part... thanks for sharing.

Where would he have been projected to go if he hadn't gotten hurt?

I wouldn't say hes the reason we passed on Brown. Hes the reason why we passed on Xavier Cooper, Michael Bennett, and Gabe Wright. They didn't choose Brown because they just like Jones better as he filled a much bigger need.

Uh, I read where he was in our camp last year and got cut. Is this correct?

Yes true. Frankly, I think that Whaley is just as those others that you mentioned.

Former Longhorn running back.
Give him a shot to tote the rock and see how it goes.

Not exactly.

Chris Whaley was signed as an undrafted free agent following the 2014 draft, but he never went to training camp. Whaley went undrafted due to rehabbing a left ACL tear suffered as a senior at Texas.

Dallas knew he wasn't going to play as a rookie.

Whaley was waived with a non-football injury right before the team departed for training camp and reverted to our Reserve/NFI list (different form of IR) when he went unclaimed.

Early in camp, before initial cuts, teams have to waive players and allow the 31 other clubs the chance to claim them instead of just moving them straight to IR.

The NFL does what it can to stop teams from "hiding" developmental players on IR.

I can't wait to see this cat in the preseason..

If he flashes more than Coleman did early prior to the calf issues, I will be Hitchen-Sly-surprised....

like I said Whaley is from my hometown and I love the guy but he in no way was anywhere near as good as Malcom Brown in college

Broaddus
I didn’t know much about Chris Whaley and what he could bring to this defense, but the front office and coaching staff had enough confidence to keep him around the entire season in order to get healthy. Whaley lined up as the under-tackle and I would have to say that I was impressed with what I saw from his first day. He played with explosive quickness when attacking the gap and was a handful for these offensive linemen to have to deal with. He was up the field on his pass rush and was also to play down the line on several plays in the running game where he was in position to make the play. While noticing Whaley, I was also impressed with Isiah Dunning and Bryon Bennett - both weekend workout players who were also around the ball a bunch.

Yep, well here's to hoping. Him and Crawford rotating at the 3. McClain and hopefully Bishop and not Hayden rotating at the 1. Decent Lineup

He's a big boy.

Perhaps yet another player with a Chip on his shoulder?

Give me a roster full of guys with chips on their shoulders and watch the Super Bowls pile up.

No, but in game footage with both of them on the field, Whaley was double-team far more than you would expect which Brown often getting single blocked.
