Pretty good story about what is going on with the D.

Christian Parker Isn’t Meeting His Own Standard in Dallas

Christian Parker told us he would build the Dallas Cowboys’ defense around his players. After five games, opponents look more comfortable attacking it than the Cowboys look playing it.

Let’s go back to his introductory press conference, Parker said, “You build it around players.” He also said, “If we got good man-to-man corners, we’re going to play man.” He talked about finding favorable matchups, protecting weaknesses, and adjusting to what his personnel did well.

Christian Parker asked us to believe he would adjust the defense to the talent. I believed him. Now I’m watching offenses run through it, complete passes, and convert third downs at a rate Dallas can’t let happen.

Parker needs to make changes, because I’m done giving him credit for describing a defense I hoped we were getting. Instead, we just have last year’s defense with better players.

The bottom line is that our pass rushers are so bad that we need to send five or six to get serious pressure.

Our best pass rusher is a guy who, in seven years, has one year with more than 7 sacks. And he’s also our only decent run defender. He’s not Aaron Donald, which is what he needs to be.

The defense drafted a true playmaker in 2020 and didn’t draft another one until this year. Four years without a single impact player so we’re praying for three rookies to play at a pro bowl level in the first games of their career.

I don’t care who the coordinator ends up being but Jerry better give them a true pass rusher.

I've been saying this since we first got a look at his defense....he needs to scheme to his players, even he said it....problem is, he's not! He's trying to force feed a screaming child and it's not working. Give that kid a candy. Back off, simplify, build a little confidence and then force feed that brat!!!!

One of the things most frustrating to me is the fact that players like Quinnen barham, EZ , and Downs among others are attacking style players that aren't being used that way. In fact they are being used the opposite way, as read and react. Shame on Parker. My bet is the players are ALREADY becoming disgruntled.

Big dogs wanna HUNT and eat! They don't wanna lay around BEGGING for someone to MAYBE throw them table scraps. If you don't let them eat eventually they will turn and eat YOU. My bet is Parker is looking like a turkey leg to some of those guys by now...LOL

I can understand the defense looking shoddy the first game, the second and even the third. What I cannot fathom is that Parker is not making any significant adjustments. There is no pass rush. What do teams do when they can't generate enough pressure? The rush 5 and 6 guys. Yup, that exposes the secondary to big plays. But I'd rather that than those long time consuming drives that keep my high caliber offense off the field.

I do not think the problem is personnel. I think it is scheme first then some personnel issues.

I don't think he knows how to make changes.

Sadly,....the truth is there are most likely veteran high school coaches in Texas right now that have probably forgotten more about defense than Parker ever knew. He's THAT green, and it shows.

What makes this all so sickening is that when people were saying that all we needed was just an average defense and we were a 12 win team they were not wrong. They were correct,...barring injury of course. So yeah,.......Im done with Mr Parker.

I could put this in a number of threads but it seems appropriate here.

CP's use of Downs is near criminal. He isn't the biggest or fastest guy. His strength is his mental ability to read the offense and break up a play before it starts. From what I can tell, CP has given Downs absolutely zero freedom. He sits in the slot and either covers his man or drops into a zone. There was no point in drafting him in the first round if that was the plan.

.....

Just in general, I think that someone in Dallas knows nothing about defense but is absolutely in love with the concept of a bend but don't break defense. They keep going back to it. Until whomever in Dallas believes this works is fired, dies or changes their mind, Dallas is going to struggle with defense.

CP should be fired today but I have no confidence the next guy will be even a little bit better.

I wonder how he feels he is doing in meeting the two most important things:

Scheme aside, Parker's core beliefs in his defensive philosophy ultimately boil down to two aspects. "Definitely stopping the run and affecting the quarterback are the two most important things you can do," Parker said.

He's just a kid! A kid trying to teach other kids, that is who he is. And, like I said, he probably still plays Madden to get a clue on how to manage a defense.

The Bucs ran for 241 against us. No pass rusher is preventing that.
