I agree.

He isn't starter breed.

I don't understand that. What is the difference, really?

I'm not sure myself...all I know is results. In limited spots, Randle can be a world-beater. But when you ask him to carry the load, his performance overall suffers. And that is true of alot of running backs in the league.

Perhaps the best example of a complimentary back is Darren Sproles. In limited spots, he can torch a defense...but don't ask him to carry the load, because he will not hold up over the course of a season.

A little more in depth article in case it wasn't posted somewhere else....

http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas-cowb...oys-ready-to-take-reins-off-christine-michael

I think he’s where he needs to be, and we want to take the reins off him and let him rock,” running backs coach Gary Brown said.

At 5-foot-10 and 221 pounds, Michael is bigger than Randle and Darren McFadden. His size can help the offensive line.

“Not to say that the other guys don’t have power, but I think he probably has a little bit more power,” Brown said. “We’ve got to take advantage of that.”

That would be a real dumb thing for a coach to say to the media.

Even if it is how the team feels, those conversations and comments are best served behind closed doors between coaches and players.

OK ...

I think it's more of a case that Randle and McFadden have lost it than Cmike earning it.

They basically brought the guy in for a month to learn the offense, then planned to work him in in the second halves of games for a few weeks, and then, if all went well, ramp him up from there. But they couldn't get to using him more against NE and the Saints because we were playing from behind so much. So now they're going to do it by giving him reps earlier. You can bet they'll still go with whoever gets the hot hand.

I think it's got less to do with anything Randle or McFadden hasn't done. Just this week the Joneses are still talking about how effective McFadden will be later in the year and how he was effective catching the ball. Randle, I suppose, could have his carries in trouble, but that seems unlikely because he's generally been more effective than McFadden has been.

I'm going to take them at their word that Michael just brings power to the running game that the other guys don't have, and that they'd like to see that put on the field here, especially since we're really struggling with an identity on offense.

The people that see any redeeming value in the 3 backs we've been using this season are the same who tried to excuse the Costa, Arkin, Nagy, Livings garbage along the offensive line years ago.

These running backs suck. Hopefully Michael emerges or we need an entire overhaul of that position in the offseason. It's an indictment on the front office that they thought this slop was good enough in one of Romo's few remaining years.

Oooohhh! Somebody's pretending to be a Hardliner again. Really, you're just reinforcing the fact that you've never understood that every NFL team in the history of ever has some players on it that are better than others. Does your condemnation of the running backs no longer include Dunbar, then? I gather it does, from context. If so, you're wrong. Again. Lance Dunbar isn't garbage, and he didn't suck.

Nice strut, though. You certainly get your swagger back during a 3 game losing streak. It was almost quiet there for a while without you there to complain about Jerry in every other thread and call role players 'slop' and 'garbage' for us.

Make a 'foam finger' reference for me, for old time's sake, will you? Oh! I know, how 'bout you call me 'Rowdy' because I don't respect your approach to begging for attention on the internet.

This is what needs to be done. We found a winning formula last year and yet we deviated from it this year by having a finesse back in the place of a power back as our main back. Randle is a lot better as a complementary back who can mix things up and break off huge runs here and there. He is not a battering ram who can keep the offense moving forward. Randle is a Felix Jones type...

I could be wrong, but I do worry about how Randle would handle being demoted should that come to pass. Those meat on the bone comments would certainly get thrown back in his face by folks.

Those comments are already in his face.

They should have gave him more carries against the NE in the 4th quarter. Anone who was watching the game knew we weren't coming back at that point in the game. Coaches blew a good opportunity to see how he does in real games.

I think he's going to get a real chance against the Giants.

I think the coaching staff is fed up with Randle and are noticing McFadden offers very little in the running game. We traded for this kid, even though it was small, he deserves a shot (Especially since they said he's been impressive thus far in practice)

And who really gives a crap how a roster filler like Joseph Randle handles the demotion?

Just like Weeden after he got canned.......no one cares or will ever hear from you again

You had your chance and YOU BLEW IT!!!!!!!

And I think they are just the scapegoat for predictable playcalling.

Michael will probably be the next one to look horrible with no space to run in as well.

Scapegoats? I frankly think they are part of the problem. The RBBC is a failed experiment and the FO thinking that they can reproduce Murray's production with scrubs like Randle and MacFadden makes we wonder if the Cowboys have a clue.

They were this close to going back to winning it all this year again. Yet they tinkered with what got them their in the first place and thus are having to deal with the consequences being unproductive in the running game. They aren't scapegoats. Its the FO thinking that anyone can run behind this oline.

McFadden has been a disappointment.

And Randle gets a pass, because others teams on putting 8-9 men in the box...The line play and not having Romo and Dez to open up the offense and running lanes has been the disappointment..
