To their credit....... it's the exact same off-season they had last year.....didn't hurt them.
Only because they nailed the draft with picks high in the round. They will not have that luxury and are missing a 5th round choice.

Funny how around here when we pick poorly, the draft is "just a crapshoot".

Now that we are putting all our eggs in that basket and happened to have one very good draft, it is suddenly an easy science that can be replicated.

Not true at all name how many starters did we lose last year in free agency? If we lose Williams , Leary , McClain , Claiborne , church , Carr that's 6 starters in one offseason. 7 if you count Wilcox. That's almost unheard of in free agency. We actually played last offseason crappy we paid Wilbur , Hannah , McClain and guess what all 3 contributed NOTHING.

The irony!

Pigging back off of that, I think it's funny how all of the sudden we had an "easy schedule" when all through preseason and the first half of the seasons people were saying how we would be lucky to be 3-3 until romo got healthy and all the garbage about "real tests."

He is already negotiating with Cleveland.

LOL. That was quick.

I mean it's pretty obvious at this point the strategy is just relax in Frisco for a week and then maybe next Wednesday, pull up the Rotoworld list of available free agents and see what players are left that are likely desperate for a home and we can get cheap.

It is a strategy because it is all they can afford, errr, want to do right now.

All I can say is that it is a very risky strategy to depend almost exclusively on the draft to replace starters.

Yeah but I'll be honest.....I don't care about losing those guys. And they paid those guys minimum salaries. No long term deals.

Leary is a backup, Williams was a backup, McClain was a backup, Wilcox a backup.......

You aren't going to keep backups and role players for high salaries. That's just not how the NFL works.

I'm not a fan of losing Mo, Church and Carr........I actually am one of the few defenders of those guys on here........but those same guy gave up 34 to the Packers. The same pass rush is here.

At the end of the day who are we losing on offense? Our bread and butter? No one but a backup QB and our 5th option at receiver.

That's not an upgrade by any imagination. Hopefully, Wilcox leaves to.

And who are these "upgrades"? :facepalm:Losing half the starting defense that went 13-3 and now they all "suck" cause we can't afford them...

Y'all are laughing at losing church but 4 years for 24 million is a good contract for him. Jags got a borderline steal.

That's not the case at all.

Sure Dak and Zeke were a big part of what we did last year but players stepping up from previous drafts are also what turned this around. This secondary played far better than it has in recent memory. Granted, no turnovers or a pass rush. I get it. But the secondary was much improved. Sean Lee was a MONSTER. Gems like David Irving and Mayowa helped contribute later on in the season. Mo before the injury had one of his better years.

You get better by youth. By hunger from your players. You don't get it by wasting money in free agency. Sure it helps. But the Giants spent 200 million on that defense.....yet the main reason why their defense improved was because of the jump Landon Collins made.

Players from within will be the reason we either improve or what we did last year or get worse. e

Yeah....otherwise they would've been retained. But the fact is, they are replaceable. Let's don't kid ourselves here. Leary started because Collins got hurt. Williams.......was not a main focus on our offense. And Rolando McClain.....I haven't even seen him in 2 years I don't know why you keep bringing him up unless this is the pessimism in you lol.

Correct, normally we attempt to go into the draft without glaring needs. I hope we manage to do the same this year, somehow.

You do know who Terrell McClain is right? He started 15 games for us. You know the guy Atlanta and Seattle are trying to sign because we can't afford to re-sign him...

LOL.

This new logic that because other teams want to sign our players that they are clearly great players and our FO is cheap or stupid is getting funny.

Replaceable by who? We were 13-3 the window should be RIGHT now...I've waited 21 years with this crap. Who is suppose to replace these players a bunch of 7 rounders? We have 6/7 draft picks with a ton of holes.

Who's suppose to replace backups? Go draft some or find cheaper options. Trust me, our playoff hopes are not dependent on backups. Its just not. Not if we lose our offensive line, Zeke or Dak.......then ok. Then we can talk about our losing season.

You've waited 21 years for this crap....you can wait a few more. Especially if they are NOW finally running their organization the correct way.
