I don't get why that required review. Isn't the spot of the downing where the ball is when he is touched down? It was well into the end zone.

It's where the ball was when he was hit. In this case it had broken the plane, making it a safety.

Can't lose forward progress, it was in the endzone but very close.

Hmm, okay. I always thought of forward progress rule in the case of gang tackles of runners going forward. Never occurred to me that would also apply to a stationary QB.

Was I watching the Dallas Cowboys, just they were in different uniforms today? How the heck do you lose on a SAFETY! LOL! At least I can say my team hasn't lost that way, embarrassing. :D

I think it is more like the ball was technically in the end zone because it had broken the plane, and he never got it back to the other side before being ruled down.
