I had the same injury and I'm normally weigh 170-175lbs. When I stepped on the scale at one point, I believe I was in the high 150's and I was so sick to my stomach with what I saw. There wasn't much I could do about it. Almost two years post op, my right quad is a lot smaller than my left quad. You loose so much muscle because you can't do anything for the first 2 months.

Just goes to show what type of shape he was in when he went down. A lot of muscle.

I remember his teammates and coaches commenting on how he transformed his body.

Sometimes its the pain meds following surgery. When I had an open capsular shift in my left shoulder, I was given morphine while in the hospital every 3 hours for 24 hours. When I was released, I started detoxing from the morphine, I could no keep water down. Throw in the percocet I lost 25 pounds within 4 days of surgery between the detox and the meds I was so nauseous I have no Idea how I survived, I barely could drink water without heaving.

Are you serious? Your body became dependent on Opoids within 24 hours. There is something wrong there.

How much do you think that the nationalist will help him come back from being skinny to being strong?

I was in pretty intense pain, I would wake up every three hours on the dot to get another shot. I mean they went in and cut and shortened all my ligaments in my shoulder and the incision top of my shoulder to my arm pit. The pain actually made me see stars. After all that I all I used for pain management was OTC like tylenol and Advil. Thanks to that surgery doctors have hard time diagnosing me because of my tolerance for pain. About 6 years later after that I crushed one of my fingers in a roll up door and the docs couldn't believe that I waited 8 hours in an emergency room to be seen without losing my mind. They then couldn't believe I went to work 4 hours later after being released. The tip of my ring finger on my right hand was crushed into 6 pieces and bunch of "meat" squirted out the finger right at the first crease.

All I have to say for those few days all I could really eat were few spoonfuls of that rainbow jello parfait you find int he grocery store.

I have had over ten major spine surgeries and have been treated with drugs stronger than morphine. Doctors have always said it takes a couple months of use to start to become dependent on the drugs. I have used a ton of Opoids over the years following the surgeries and have never had a withdrawal problem even after months of use. I didn't think it was possible in 24 hours time. It wasn't for me anyway.

Sorry, but the finger story makes me think of a Saturday Night Fever quote "you almost broke my (kitty) finger".

That is what I thought but when I talked to the docs they say body chemistry, plus family history of addiction, can cause different reactions. Just like I have about 6 hour delayed reaction to novacaine (6 shots of it to be exact), ask me how I know.

My ring finger was as big around as my big toe. Almost the same size as Chris Pine's ring finger in the Reboot of Star trek when bones was giving him all those shots and he got the swollen hands.

His listed weight is 192 so he must have stopped lifting completely and wasn't eating very much. I do remember Michael Irvin losing a lot of weight rehabbing his ACL after the 89 season. Jimmy said he was alarmed when he saw Irvin said he was as thin as a rail.

Sorry, I don't know the Star Treck reference. It sounds bad.

On a side note, my Dad had the biggest fingers I've ever seen and he was not fat. He once got a ring and the guy didn't have a ring sizer that was big enough and said that was the biggest ring he had ever fitted. IIRC it was something like size 18. I have big hands but nothing like his.

My ring finger looked like one of his and the numbing agent they gave me so I could get some sleep that night made my right hand look like of those, they injected this numbing agent into the front and back of my hand.
