He was playing Cover 3, a coverage specifically designed not to get beat deep. He's not supposed to press the WR, so he can stay with him. He was burned and Quick barely touched him.

It happens what I want to know is where did the middle coverage go.

The safety has to pause for a second to make sure that slot guy didn't run a deep post. He ran a square in, and was late getting over. He doesn't have any responsibility to cover the sidelines deep.

Claiborne may have had a better chance by not leaving his feet on that play

You have zero argument other than a generalized complaint. All you are doing here is showing you are hard headed.

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it. - Aristotle

Whatever dude......................enjoy watching your boy guarding the waterbucket...............that's about the only thing the coaching staff thinks he can guard at this point.

He was DRAFTED as on the same tier. Period.

Understand exactly what you're saying, but I find it amusing that people often degrade the player for where he was drafted. Players have no control over where they're drafted...that's on the GM/Scouts/Coaches.

That pick play shouldn't really even be counted against Mo. It looks like he was doing what he should have been doing on that play, clearing out a little bit to allow the slot corner to slide inside there with his man. Scandrick got hit pretty good by the outside corner to allow his man to basically get a free release. Mo actually looked to be making a heads up play and realizing that his man was basically out of the route and tried to recover over to the slot WR. Maybe he should have reacted faster, but then if his man had gone free he'd be getting roasted by the same people for it.

You can be right about Mo being a marginal player and still be wrong about criticizing for individual plays. The Pick play shouldn't really be held against anyone. Its not a fair play to the defense as its an illegal down field block. If anything it should be held against the officials as that is part of the point of emphasis that the NFL stated this year. The Broncos abused the hell out of that type of play last year.

You are correct...that is Scandrick's man and his responsibility. UNLESS....the coaches called for a switch on all rub plays near the goal line and Mo didn't switch on time. Like I wrote earlier, communication was poor on that play, be it Coaches to players or among the players.

Beast, as it stands, it appears Mo is still the #3 CB so he will be playing a lot. Especially against the pass happy Saints who like to go 4 wide with Graham as the 5th split out. Moore claims he's still the #4 CB. No clue how long that will last but...

I agree he will get opportunities in the game, he needs to step up and take advantage of that.

I agree with this. After the pick play, Scandrick immediately sits down on his new guy. Mo hesitates for almost a full second covering no one before he realizes the receiver is left alone.

Not sure who or what causes the confusion though, and Mo's only fault is probably not recognizing the rub play quicker and reacting to it. Which could be just inexperience too.

id bet money that patrick peterson would STILL make the play.

You think WR's dont try and get advantages and extend arms on those CB's all the time? you better believe it.

Patrick would not have too. He would get the call. Im not saying Mo is Petersen but pushing off is pushing off.

On talkin cowboys they said he was suppose to switch. But that he thought that he was suppose to play zone.

Scandrick had a pretty easy time sitting down on his man because he had his momentum forcibly stopped by the pick. Claiborne had to recognize, kill his momentum and get going in the opposite direction. Probably should have been played better, but I think without a flag that's going to be a completion a high percentage of the time, barring a bad throw by the QB.

Yeah, it was a TD and Claiborne got beat again. But, what on earth is Bruce Carter doing on this play? It looks like he just made a bee-line to the sideline to cover, well, no one.:) And what is the safety (Wilcox?) near Claiborne doing? He just looks to be standing there flatfoot. The Rams back(or TE?) releasing in the left flat would have been wide open for a 15-20 yd gain easily. In fact, both players releasing in the flat on both sides were wide open. The Rams had numerous options on this play and the Cowboys got schooled. Both scheme and execution were atrocious on this play.

Carter is playing curl to flat. He is there to take away a curl/comeback route and then drive down on the flats if someone leaks out. Not sure what Wilcox's assignment was.

In any defense their is an alert call between the DBs that is communicated for a possible rub route combination.

Looks like Mo didn't understand that.

What is more annoying is the Cowboys scored on that type of play with the same type of alignment 3x1 using the rub route combination.

BTW the 3x1 alignment is the most common formation that concept is run from.

The alert call for that is automatic.

The fact that Mo can't understand the basics to include how to correctly play technique that is required 3 years into his career is why he got demoted.

More like Church took a mediocre drop and then looked slow running to the sideline. Wilcox looks fairly clueless underneath there too. Claiborne still failed horribly staying on top. His recovery speed is disappointing to say the least too.

Carter is about 10 yds down the field before he even turns to look. No one is within 10 yds of the Ram player in the left flat. I don't think either Carter or Wilcox had a clue of what was called and neither were in a position to do anything.
