Claiborne...

I will admit it. I am stunned. I never saw this coming in any way, shape, or form. When I saw that we had traded up I automatically assumed it was for Barron.

Calvin Watkins tweeted earlier tonight that right before Jerry took a bite of sandwich on their break he winked at the reporters gathered and said, "fooled ya, didn't we?"

Yes, you certainly did.

But I have a lot of questions left unanswered. I wondered how we were going to play Jenkins and Carr given both were RCBs. Do we now move Jenkins? Do we move Carr, who has some size, to Safety?

Are we going to address our glaring need at OL? How without our pick at 45?

Yeah, I am fooled, but are we missing the bigger picture focusing so much on DBs? I hope not.

Oh, and I hate the Steelers bad right now.

I think we've already upgraded our offensive line from last year. But if you look back at things our offense really clicked when we had our running game and passing game going. We can always add more oline later too.

PS my reaction to the steelers was the exact same...

Jerry like a blind squirrel will find the acorn every now and then. I'm pretty confident that Claiborne is that rare acorn found by Jerry. If we still had a 2nd rnd. pick, do you really think Jerry would have hit again? Worth it to me!

I cannot wait too hear about the Wars that are gonna be fought on the practice field between Dez and Mo.

That metaphor implies that they wandered into it. It might fit if Claiborne fell into their lap at 14, but this was no blind wandering. This was a surgical strike.

All I know is after the pick I drove to five liquor stores trying to find the guy to get some day two info.

I spent 151.23 on booze and now have a DUI.

I think the DMN is cheaper.

And the DMN doesn't give you a hangover - or does it?

We have a strong group of CBs now. This can only will help our DL get to the QB. Can't wait to see what Mr. Ryan has planned for the defense. Should be fun. :D

After Claiborne gets acclimated, I would move Jenkins inside.

We lost 5 leads per NFLN for loses last year. We got ahead and lost it. So does that say the offense can score?

Robinson was instrumental in making that happen, but he will not be the end all.

Austin needs to get and stay in shape. We will be okay, Hos.

Thank you for the civil response.

In the words of the kids from "Remember the Titans"...We want some Mo, we want some Mo, we want some Mo.

I believe this was a once in a decade chance. You don't pass this up when you have the guy graded just a hair under Deon Sanders.

We are just getting into the meat and potatoes of the draft, tomorrow should be interesting.

We just got thru the 1st round of the draft.

We have all summer to ask questions like that. :laugh2:

That's because you're sort of a trenches guy. Deep down you hate cornerbacks as much as you do kickers. This pick wasn't sexy for you.

I kid.

I thought the same thing. I'm reluctant to agree with you because it's a passing league and I think we made the right move for the future. I can help you out, Jenkins can't cover Cruz on the outside. At least last year he gave up huge, crucial plays vs. Cruz.

In my opinion, Cruz is life insurance for a passing league. And two players on our roster in Scandrick and Jenkins that haven't proven one better than the other, cept Scandrick seems to have work ethic.

I was duped. I hate to admit Jerry and Stephen Jones outsmarted me, too.

With Rob Ryan he'll have 'em all out there in some four CB one S backfield.

I have the same exact questions and they absolutely need answers! I love the pick but there are a lot of positions that can't be tucked under the rug and forgotten about. It was always unrealistic to think we'd address every need, we still have many. But, IMO we have to come out of this draft with someone for the OL and see what we can do after to help out at Safety, DL and still OL. That's a lot of work.

But the even better news is our corners are set for years to come. With minor tweaks to the O line for this season, the boys can focus primarily on the D line in next years draft. I think we are in a lot better position to win a couple playoff games this season at least. We do need to find another receiving threat because Miles and Dez have not proven to me they can stay healthy yet.

Which play was that?

Not that either side is necessarily right or wrong, but just because it's a "passing league" doesn't mean loading up on corners and, frankly, neglecting your pass rush (which we have done, whether intentionally or not) is the best way to counteract that. Many teams have proven throughout the years that the best way to counteract a high-flying passing game is to get to the QB and knock him around.

I was so excited about this pick that I didn't even hear the loud "Cowboys Suck" chant until I watched the replay just now.

Gotta love the hate.:starspin
