Rewatched the game and tried to focus on him.

The main thing I noticed was he's not moving his feet, not staying on his toes. He waits flat-footed for the receiver to get near him and then ends up chasing bc he's in a standstill when the receiver gets near.

I think this has something to be with confidence. He looks unsure, like he's pressing.

Good news is that this is a basic technique issue tha can be easily fixed. I'm not saying he'll be great, but he's regressed since last year and that looks to be the issue to me

Not saying it hasn't been done, but Mo needs to be sat down and told loud and clear (but respectful) that he simply has to play better and that poor play won't be tolerated, if he's hurt (which he is) fine, but poor footwork because of a bad shoulder won't cut it at this level fair or unfair.

Claiborne is a press corner. We drafted him (and brought in Carr) because we needed those corners for Ryan's defense.
In Kiffins defense the corner usually dont play press cover. They play off. That is something our corners are not good at. But than again we weren't bringing them in for Kiffins defense.

All in all we made the biggest investment on defense for players who dont fit the scheme.

Bears corners press all the time. I think the problem is our corners aren't pressing up and are defending way far off making the slant hard to cover

Kiffen told his players to watch tape of the Seahawks before training camp, because we we're suppose to play a similar style. They play press man, u rarely see WR getting clean releases off the line. I think Kiffen needs to make better in game adjustments.

Claiborne playing with both poor technique and low confidence, Garrett says
Cornerback Morris Claiborne, picked on repeatedly by Philip Rivers and the Chargers in Sunday’s loss, is playing with poor technique and low confidence, coach Jason Garrett said Monday.
“They went to him too much in this ballgame, and they were too effective,” Garrett said. “He’s just got to play better, and he will play better.”

“We feel like the combination we had out there is the best combination. And if we thought otherwise, we would make that change,” Garrett said. “But what he (Claiborne) needs to do is just play better. He needs to play with the right technique and do it consistently, over and over and over again.”

Thats not true and it has been discussed several times.

The problem I have is that that the Cowboys have a pretty good DB coach who should be able to correct these "easily fixed techniques" yet hasnt been able to in over a year. So maybe the wonderlich reflected something important. Maybe the guy isnt all that bright and not that coachable and teachable. Also I noticed on one play he got beat on coverage and then lost body control and fell on his can. Bottom line is this guy is not as athletic as advertised and I question whether he rises above jag status.

As do Seattles who's defense were supposed to be trying to replicate. Doing a pretty piss poor job of it.

This all goes back to training camp and preseason which he missed due to injury. Unfortunately we are all paying the price for that now. Hopefully he can figure this out sooner rather than later.

Carr said Kiffin told him to watch the Seahawks tape... I personally haven't read that other part about playing similar styles as them. Logical assumption to make, but I haven't seen actual quotes about it.

One thing I have liked about his play is he's increased physicality. I'd be more worried if he was still playing soft. Technique can be coached and confidence can be raised; toughness cannot be taught

If the solution was that simple I'd think Henderson or another coach would've caught it and addressed. The guy just might be a scrub, and its a shame cause he's a really nice kid

Anyone going to acknowledge the glaringly obvious fact that Claiborne is playing the Zone for the 1st time?

He's been a press corner...got drafted as a press corner.

Didn't have to play zone his 1st year under Ryan.

He's 4 games in trying to relearn the position.

But no slack with this fanbase. Get it immediately or get out.

And then if we cut you and you go on to flower someone else...we blame management.

Nice to be able to have your cake and eat it also.

Yes he has lost his way. Reminds me of the old days with Waters at corner before
He was moved to safety. Everyone is going to pick on him.

Problem is, for a CB drafted that high, he should be able to play both man and zone well. Given that he was converted from WR to CB in college, he just may not have enough experience to be well polished in that aspect. That is something that the Cowboys may or may not have considered prior to the draft. However, it isn't his fault that the Cowboys sacrificed so much to draft him and that he is now playing a scheme that he doesn't have experience in.

I get what you're saying...and you are not wrong by any means. But is it not fair to say then that a HUGE problem with this franchise is that they do not develop a long-term plan, draft accordingly, and stick with the plan?
