People are still arguing about this???

Guy has been dead for 4 and half years and the guy who actually committed the crime is in prison.

Why is this still a story?

Because there are still a lot of people associated with him involved in the sport - including some who've contact with high school kids.

But the argument is about Paterno ..... and he has been dead for almost half a decade at this point .......

I guess its just click bait.

There has just be a petitioned request from a large number of former players to reinstall the statue of Paterno at Penn St.

Frankly it's embarrassing, if not contemptible, that this is being suggested.

Another victim came forward and claimed Paterno knew as far back as 1976...sorry if their story doesn't fit into your timeline of events

That and Penn State had its penalty greatly reduced. And when you're on a Dallas Cowboys forum, you're bound to run into some SMU fans who remember them getting the death penalty for something that wasn't in the same galaxy as PSU and it lacked every bit of the institutional lack of ethics.

And there's still plenty of media members that vehemently defend Paterno.

I fully support the victims and have zero issue with bashing Paterno, who could have EASILY put a stop to this years ago. Instead he was too worried about football and it led to plenty of other children to be raped.

There's nothing wrong with never forgetting about what happened at Penn State.

There's no argument.

Lives were forever altered... Ruined.

Agreed ....... just do not understand how this is still news.

Unless the dead guy and the child molester are about to start coaching again.

If this is about keeping Paterno's statue down ........ seems like that's not even an issue except for a few hopeful fans of his.

It's an issue because many people believe Joe Pa did nothing wrong. The people in his corner are keeping this story alive in an attempt to clear his name, so those interested in truth are keeping it alive to show what he did (or didn't do)

Personally, if I were the University, I would not do it but I'm not so it's really none of my business. If they decide to do this, that's on them.

To, me, it just seems a little to Sanctimonious. People inside Penn State new of this. Fans heard rumor of this for years. The NCAA new of this since 1983. Nobody did anything until SHTF, so to speak. Had nothing come of this, it would still be hush, hush.

You think this is about a statue?

The "depth" of his involvement is what is the story.
He kept the whistle in his pocket!

History, good or bad, is revisited often... with updates and new information... Etc...This is no different.

So I was watching Nixon's National Champion on the Longhorn Network and at the end Paterno made a comment, out of complete bitterness and angst....that here Nixon 4 years later knew nothing about Watergate, but yet he was such an expert on college football rankings.

I find that little man to be a complete hypocrit......he was basically the be all end all on that campus for decades, yet knew nothing of Sandusky's years of despicable behavior.......

He and Sandusky can both rot in Hell as far as I am concerned. Oh, and maybe Lucifer can give them both an eternity of what ole Jerry gave to those poor, innocent boys.

BTW, Texas was the legit choice for the National Champs that year. Just a little more salt in the wounds of that scumbag little man.
