Claimed Bosworth?

I don't remember what Dallas thought of Watkins. Is he a guy that could fit a zone scheme?
have to wonder why Reid wouldn't be interested in him, unless this was one of the picks that led to that rift in the eagles front office.

Watkins played very poorly in a zone blocking scheme in Philadelphia.

There was also a very interesting article in the Philly Inquirer today that questioned how much Watkins wanted to play football. Seems that he spent a lot of time hanging out at two different Philadelphia area firehouses, and even assisted the firemen on some calls. Sounds like he still loved being a fireman, and was playing football as a means to an end.

I'm concerned about how this defense will look in the second half of the year.

Ware and Spencer are undersized for their roles, and will be taking on more blockers on a down by down basis. By the second half of the year, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see both of them performing at significantly less than 100% effectiveness. While Hatcher doesn't have the size deficiency, he will be playing more snaps this year than he has played in his career. As the depth across the line is not good, I think these guys will be playing way to many snaps, and will be worn down if not injured by the end of the season.

As long as either Hayden/Hatcher can tie up two blockers, they will be able to hold their own against the run. With Lee and Carter playing in space, they will clean up against the run.

Except the colts in their hay day with freeney and Mathis held up quite well down the stretch.

Out 5th corner if needed will be Pellerin on the PS.

ok, sterling moore should have made the 53, and Pellerin should still be on the practice squad along with Andre Smith no need for 5 tight ends.... no need for 4 tight ends really but 5 is ridiculous

Agree, just trying to justify the move.

Freeney and Mathis in the Colts hey day had significantly less wear and tear on them.

They also had one of the best offenses in the league, and played with a lead all the time. Not the situation in Dallas.

I've seen Bosworth quite a bit this preseason and wasn't impressed at all.

Awesome! Care to explain how you know more than the Cowboy brass?

1. You clearly aren't familiar with the Tampa 2. It does not require massive defensive ends.
2. This offense is going to be a lot more explosive this year. I know you might not be able to acknowledge that, but you'll see it in action in a week. Romo has always been amazing when he has had 4 options to throw it to on a play. He might even have 5 options this year with Dunbar. That equals a lot of yards and first downs, even on checkdowns. He has a slew of dangerous 4th targets.

Just a gut feeling and if you think a 5th tight end or even a 4th is more valuable than a 5th corner than anything I say couldn't save you, 3 TE's 5 corners are what most teams do... In a pass happy NFL.... Plus lets revisit this post when you see BW Webb play against the Packers,Lions,Saints and Broncos. Lol 5 tight ends

No, I am familiar with the Tampa 2. I'm also familiar with the fact that Ware was banged up late last year, and has been battling stingers since 2009. Spencer is coming off of a knee injury, and will be playing SDE at 255 pounds. There is nothing resembling quality depth behind them. Not only will they be playing more snaps than a year ago, they also will be taking on tackles down to down instead of occasionally playing in space as they did in a 3-4. If you don't think that this will wear them down, then you are a lot more hopeful than I am.

As for the offense, it's great that you are speculating that they will be explosive, but the proof will be in the results. Let's see how the line performs this year. Let's see if they can convert touchdowns in the red zone instead of settling for field goals. Let's see if they can average over 24 points a game, which they have not done in quite some time. They have some good parts, but they also did last year, and were very uneven offensively.

These are my feelings on the matter. Like anyone else's, they don't mean anything until the games are played.
