Clarence Hill comments on 105.3

This “receivers are a dime a dozen” attitude some people have is really… untrue.

And it’s provably untrue based on the WR talent in the league.

We wouldn’t have Caleb Downs if 2 teams ahead of us didn’t force WR picks.

WRs also seem to have a high bust rate. MHJ is just average. N’Keal Harry. Kelvin White. Remember Darius Heyward-Bay?

Maybe average WRs are easy to find, but good to great ones are not. And Brown has already shown he has special traits - for instance, contested catch ability and play strength.

Teams like Houston have been looking for an elite receiver since Hopkins left.

I feel like the Raiders, or the Texans, or the Titans, or the Dolphins, would try to sign Brown pretty quickly if he was cut. He has already shown remarkable traits.

All Mingo has shown is he can play special teams - and it isn’t worth cutting promising talent at one position for a mediocre talent just because the mediocre talent plays special teams.
Mingo is the best blocking receiver on the team and I think he is a starting gunner.

Watch him play. He can be kept as a WR5-6 right now. I like Anthony Smith a lot, but I cannot say the same. Trigg also.

Other teams have their own similar guys they want to sneak through. Part of keeping Brown around is about Pickens potential impending departure

Disappointed Trigg couldn't unseat Schoon, who has done jack **** since we burned a second on him. If it were me, I'd dump these former second rounders just to change up the locker room a bit. Sam, Schoon, Mingo should all be cut, but the team will probably keep all three because they're familiar with them and know what they're getting.

I doubt that Pickens will go anywhere.

Mingo certainly should not be cut. Tell me who are your starting gunners? Schoonmaker shouldn't be cut either.

Just pick a guy. It's not rocket science. Run real fast and tackle the returner. Every UDFA will fight like hell for the opportunity.

Cutting Brown makes no sense at all. He will not make it through waivers. So Brown has an excellent camp and preseason. You hit! Why risk losing him? Cause of Mingo?

You’ll start knowing cuts mid afternoon. Teams inform players and agents before they submit a the deadline and those parties start sharing with social media sites to get their hype going

Some teams have already started cutting guys yesterday and today

It’s the right thing for a team to do so the young players have every opportunity to get a jump on finding a job.

Most teams announce their rosters right after the deadline

Looked it up for last year. The Cowboys released their list at 4:16 pm EST (16 minutes after the deadline)
Yes Dallas most of the time wait until the last minute.

You can find someone else to block and be a gunner.

When evaluating WRs, keep the WR that keeps making plays at WR.

Am I insane? Or is this only applicable to WRs?

I never hear people say “keep the worse guy at swing tackle because the worse guy at swing tackle plays special teams”.

I only see people evaluating them as the position they play. Same with literally every other position.

..very interesting. Howell getting #2 would be my way to go as well.

Williams seems to be on decline rather than.

Everything else is just metrics football, I'll leave that up to them . :)

3. Camden Brown will not play this year anyway, so he will be cut and put on the practice squad of possible. Receivers are a dime a dozen, so he likely won't be claimed.

Clarence is high.

Raiders, Colts, Seahawks and Panthers will all be looking to claim a WR tomorrow night.

The fact that Mingo, who stole money for the last year and a half and also stole a 4th round pick, might make this team at the expense of Brown seems crazy to me.

It's a strange phenomenon seeing people advocating for a guy that hasn't done much of anything in the league since being drafted several years ago, over a promising rookie that has consistently flashed throughout camp and preseason games. We really going to keep Mingo because he developed the skill to play gunner in the 3+ years he's been in the league?

All we've seen are the highlights, the coaches see the entire product. Every year we have at least one receiver with a highlight reel for the fans.

See Pickens, Lamb, Flournoy, Turpin, and Mingo. He doesn't do what Mingo and Turpin do.
