You lost me. These two events are not in any way similar.

Parcells did not understand the comments were offensive. This is the reason he said it in an open forum.

Wade's comment was of course not offensive. It may have been unwise, but the problem lies in the fact that he should known better to give the media any ammo for the future.

If you want to say the double standard is that both are dumb then yeah I guess so, lol.

Seriously, we are supposedly to believe that Parcell's didn't know that would be offensive. For being a HOF coach, that's not very much common sense.

The double standard is getting more bent out of shape for Wade's comment than for Parcell's comment. In reality, the only way to not give any ammo to the press is to not say anything. Perfectly reasonable statements taken out of context could sound really bad.
