Honestly, what new scheme?

more cover 3?

most of the coverage shells look the same as last season.

only change we see is the DEs standing instead of having a hand on the ground.

We still run the 4-2-5 that Richard brought in.

Whatever it is, the players are having difficulty with it. LOL

But then thats probably because they suck.

I think the only the thing we can ALL agree on is that everything and everyone sucks until further notice. :lmao:

Im fine with it all. This team needs a defensive influx in talent on D and this is the best way to do it. One injury riddled season.

A defensive minded coach would have been a better choice. The offense is in good hands with kellen.

It wouldn't have mattered. There was no offseason, no training camp, no preseason, still faced historic injuries.....

McCarthy hasn't had a chance to do anything. A defensive minded HC wouldn't have either.

Rivera in Washington suggests otherwise. He's dealt with the same issues.

You get the Golden Star Award!! Glad someone else sees this. You could of easily made Moore OC. Why the Hades do you hire a offensive minded head coach when your offense was one of the best last season. And your defense was one of the worst? We needed riverboat Ron to be head coach. Not Big Mac Mike. Jerry runs this team like a luxury country club. You not in the click you get the slip. Man I wish Jerry Jones was NEVER part of the Dallas Cowboys.

the offense sure wasn't one of the best from thanksgiving week on. That is pretty big stretch to say it was.

The defense played well at philly and at new england last year. They got stops late in the vikings game to get the ball back to the offense.

there was no great offense to be found.

Other teams hired new DC's and have had the same bad results.

Del Rio (WashF) Patrick Graham (NYG) ..and Stokely (Rams) also did not have an offseason,.no preseason. - have no idea why you keep saying "no" training camp, when all NFL had a t-camp.

and the " historic" injuries were mostly on the " Offensive" side. Tyron, Collins, Jarwin, Dak, Martin etc ….
Defense lost Hill, McCoy (who was already damaged goods upon arrival) rookie Diggs, but regain LVE, Awuzie,

All defensive HCs, all have terrible defenses. Hiring a defensive HC is pointless.

It happens. Our defense wouldn't be great this year because of the personnel we have. We need help at defensive tackle and in the secondary, and even at the positions where we have some talent, it's not like we're getting top-notch production from those players.

However, there were two reasons I felt Rivera was the better choice for us last offseason.

The first is that offense is our strength. The defense has let us down over and over again since basically Wade Phillips' first couple of years. Finding someone who could coordinate this offense was not our biggest challenge; it was finding someone who could fix this defense.

Second, while McCarthy has shown he can lead a team to a Super Bowl victory, he did it with one of the best QBs in NFL history. Rivera got a team to the Super Bowl with Cam Newton at QB. No matter where we believe Dak falls, Rivera has shown that he doesn't have to have a Hall of Fame QB to have success.

The offense has been the bigger problem than the defense. They lost two games last year (against their two best opponents btw) without giving up a touchdown. The defense hasn't been a problem in previous years.

And, if the strength of your team is the offense, then you absolutely get an offensive coaching staff. Pulling both units closer to average will make you...average.

I don't think you have to pull your offense closer to average by hiring a defensive-minded head coach. Instead, it's easier for him to make a hire that can maintain the offense where it is at while improving the defense. It is harder to improve a unit without focusing on improving it.

And the defense has been a problem for a lot of years. What have you been watching?.

The Cowboys Team in the Dak Era has never had much of an issue scoring points and being productive. Outside of maybe that 1 season where Dez was cut and they decided a WR by committee could work.

The Defense and Special Teams has killed this team for many years. It made absolute no sense to hire an offensive minded HC, one who didn't change the offense and doesn't even call the plays. Scary thing is, Jason Garrett is looking like the better HC. At least his coached teams were competitive.

How to fix this mess and get the right coaches in place? There is no chance Jerry is going to eat MM's contract which he signed for 30 million, but he can force him to make changes within his staff. That's what will probably be the best coarse of action at this point in time. Perhaps, makes him the OC and let him coach for his job in 2021. Another bad season, he won't survive.
last time we had this many injuries we earned the 4th pick in a draft and selected a runningback.

Being a good OC or DC doesn’t mean you will be a good HC
There are 32 HC in the nfl and maybe half are decent coaches and a handful or great coaches
The best HC’s are the ones who either inspire or intimidate players to be the best they can be
MM wasn’t even on my wish list but Jerry isn’t gonna fire him after one year
But I hope the next hire is not the hottest OC or DC, but the best leader of men. That’s what makes a great HC
