The players partaking in these protests are doing so deliberately to disrespect law enforcement.

I'd tell them to **** off too.
Yea, I just find it hard to comprehend the thinking on this entire issue much less the people that condone such disrespect. First of all it's hard to imagine how someone making millions per year has been so "oppressed".

Tillman was a true patriot, when he quit the NFL and joined the military, not trying to get on camera by disrespecting this country doing a "hey, look at me" kneel down knowing the cameras are on him.

It's "followers" not "leaders" that support this attention seeking moron.

I don't paint everyone with as broad a brush as you. I don't blame the whole NFL for the conduct of a few that get arrested, for example. The incidents of police misconduct are relatively small in comparison the number of interactions they have with the public. Having said that, I don't disrespect the service of those who have sacrificed because of the few bad apples.

Arizona has christened the Hoover dam bridge heading into Nevada the
"PAT TILLMAN Memorial Bridge",,, it's fresh, crisp and pretty pristine looking ,Man!, you know in that cat's wildest dreams he'd probably never figured being memorialized like that.

Yeah I use my turn signals when I change lanes, goto the corner and wait until crossing a street, open doors for everyone and anyone, say thank you to the fast food attendant after ordering my food, tip 15-20% for lunch and 20-25% for dinner.

If I see police officers working late at night, I'll buy them food or coffee. If they are in line behind me at a 7-11 or something, I'll take care of it.

I love the country, and respect all icons that represent it. I respect people's right to protest but disagree with the venue.

Florida Sheriff’s Office Will not Escort Miami Dolphins Until They Stand for National Anthem
http://www.usatwentyfour.com/florid...-escort-miami-dolphins-stand-national-anthem/

The Miami Dolphins have followed in Colin Kaepernick’s footsteps in refusing to stand at attention for the national anthem. However, as a result the Florida sheriffs office has now announced they will not be escorting the Dolphins to their games until they resume doing so. The Miami Herald reported the local police union is behind the Broward County Sheriff’s Office and will not be doing any escorting either.

I think your view of democracy is a little skewed

Democracy does rely on the opinion of the majority but only functions if the rights of the minorities are protected. That is the essence of democracy and the constitution of our great country. Seems our Founding Fathers understood things far better than some of us do

Therefore things should not be done just because the majority want it if it tramples on the rights of a minority

What the?

The NFL and other businesses are constitutional republics now?

I did. And your post made no sense as a reply.

Ok
The poster I replied to understood it well enough:rolleyes:
He said that the majority of fans (not the NFL or any other corporation as you incorrectly thought ) did not want to see this protest and my point was that just because an opinion is the majority opinion does not imply or mean that it is (or should necessarily be thought of as) the RIGHT opinion. "Majorities" make mistakes and minority rights need to be protected so merely the assertion of a majority opinion does not make it correct

Minority rights aren't relevant to this kind of situation.

Neither are majority rights
Majority opinion of a customer usually has an influence...usually.

Your description of a democracy wasn't accurate btw. Minority rights don't really have much weight in a pure democracy. That's why the US isn't one.

Clearly hasn't in this case so you are clearly wrong

Your understanding of a good democracy is flawed btw

What statement did I make that was wrong? Companies usually try to do what the customers want. It's not absolute. It has no comparison to a democracy or form of governmemt though. These are private entities making their own decisions.

"Good" democracy? Democracy is what it is. There are other forms of governimg that have democratic elements (like what the US has). Perhaps that is what you are going for?

the players have never said they personally were "oppressed", its their people who are , through unlawful and questionable killings/arrests, which i agree with. the purpose of the kneeling was to bring attention to the issue, not to say they are personally struggling. but of course, instead of talking about that issue, it became focused on him "disrespecting the flag".

Look at like this, lets say my friends leg was broken. To get your attention for assistance, i throw a bottle against your house. However instead of acknowledging my friend and helping me to get him assistance, you berate me and only focus on how i got your attention, saying, hey you should've did something else to get help, something i was more comfortable with.

Not trying to make the convo political, just trying to get you to see things from the point of view of many of us out there.
