Yes, they are. There is a huge difference in calling a timeout to avoid a penalty on a key drive and not knowing when to use them to manage the time. This is a ridiculous thread.
very coach makes mistakes. No everyone on this planet makes mistakes. The difference in our case is our coach has already cost us many games in the past. Red is beyond atrocious and needs to go.uh huh, you just don't like the same inconvenient truth that is getting demonstrated in almost every playoff game this season.
You know what would make Garrett actually look better? Winning like Sean Payton does.
I hope you're just playing dumb. That's the op's point. He's saying that other coaches make mistakes too during the game and we all know SP is a better HC then JG
I just love pointing out how "no one should have clock issues when they are a GENIUS like Payton", get proven wrong... yet again Just watch football people, it happens almost every week.
No he is trying to say Garrett is not responsible.
He s comparing Garrett's glaring and repeated mistakes to one game in the toughest place to play in the league
where Bree's burned timeouts in a 2 nd and long situation.
It's silly. If you want to compare Payton's resume with Garrett's by all means do it.
Not only that, some of the play calling I see on a weekly basis from guys who are "so much better" is positively mind boggling.
Game management isn't just about calling the timeout to avoid a penalty. It is about getting the play call in on time to avoid the penalty. Payton, Brees and the Saints did not do that well on that one drive. It happens.
I agree sir.
And the evidence that it wasn't completely on Brees? Any evidence of a late play call? Looked a lot like Brees taking way too long at the line.
mmmm, no. That is not my point. My point is that his "game management issues" are exaggerated (and they are), and that everyone has them, even the very best. if you want to criticize him there are better issues. simple point.
But, but, but we coulda had him.... umm ummm, yeah.
no thanks.
I agree wholeheartedly with the OP. Jason Garrett is just as good as Sean Payton. I don't see what all you are complaining about.
Well when drew Bree's comes to the sideline to explain to Payton when he needs to call a timeout in a critical game I might believe that they are exaggerated here.
Garrett has more than earned his critics. He has made repeated mistakes and should have been fired after the 12 season but we are stuck wasting at least one more with him next year.
Um, at least Sean Payton has a playoff win under his belt as a head coach. Oh yeah, he has a Super Bowl ring.
Garrett has neither.
Bottom line would Payton have won at least one of these three season finales if he were the head coach here?
I can't imagine a scenario where he would not have.
He definitely would not have been punting on 4th and shorts on the other teams 40 with the worst defense in the league that's for sure.
