So it is my humble opinion that the Red Headed Genius cost us yet another game with clock management. How many does that make now????? I lose count. I personally think Garrett should be canned after the season save an NFC title game or better however I have this horrible feeling that Jerry will keep him no matter what. So if he does keep him should he hire a coach who actually has a clue about how to mange the clock to make decisions in the last 5 minutes of a game when it comes to either saving time when we are losing or burning time when we are ahead???? Now I know this is an absurd idea but I am truly tired of seeing all the mistakes Red makes that cost us games. There is absolutely ZERO excuse for anyone who is an NFL head coach to make that many clock management mistakes.

My greatest fear is that we will win this pitiful division by default with an 8 - 8 record and Jerry will claim he is happy just because we made the playoffs and keep Garrett even though we are probably blown out in the first playoff game.

I don't see where the clock managent was his fault when we ran three plays and held on the last one. That hold costed us 30+ seconds.

Clock management coach??????

Why prop a coach that clearly isnt cutting again? Whats next a motivational assistant head coach?

How many holding calls do you see when the QB kneels??? We only need to run down the clock and punt. They would of had no more than 30 seconds probably closer to 20 if Garrett did that with no timeouts. As it was they scored with 12 seconds left after getting the ball with just over a minute. You take away the extra 30+ seconds they had and the best they could do is a game tying field goal. Garrett made the wrong call and we ended up losing.

I agree completely but do you really think Jerry will get rid of him??? His terrible clock management has cost us several games, so why not try to do something about it if Jerry makes the terrible decision of keeping him? BTW, I think a motivational coach would be great because Garrett is SEVERELY lacking in that area too!!!!!! Just hire a coach to help with all of Reds massive shortcomings!!!!!!o_O

I thought Tanner was just supposed to run straight into the line. If he did that, there would have been no hold.

The game ended with two timeouts we never used. Coulda used one when Detroit got to the one. Have to plan for getting the ball back down one there.

Garrett is just plain situational dumb.

A preening poser of a head coach.

Hindsight is 20/20

There is zero chance of a hold hold with a kneel and also no chance of a fumble. We were not going to get anything up the middle with their interior defensive line and the fact that they knew we would run it up the middle.

that is what was suggested in todays presser. But then it comes back to:
1) why wasnt the player told to make sure of this
or
2) why didnt he listen

Some can say thats on Garrett.

It always seems to be with Garrett, our perennial .500 head coach.

The players have to execute. You can't blame him entirely for that ending. Without a hold, Detroit sees the ball with just over 30 seconds on the clock and no TO's. Garrett didn't allow 80 yards in less than one minute either.

No but they would not of had a minute if he did the right thing.

Not many will buy that.......but it's the truth.

How in the world can the head coach not know that his defense was battered, and was down to 3 rookies in the secondary? So yes he is responsible for allowing the Lions to go 80 yards in less than a minute. Only an idiot would put the game in the hands of a battered defense to win it.

So yes this game falls squarely on the shoulders of the idiot head coach!
