When Johnson first arrived as a fourth-round pick out of Eastern Washington, he brought a packed resume that included 17 career interceptions, two seasons with over 100 tackles and six forced fumbles. Johnson also brought the prototypical athleticism the NFL looks for in a safety, and his measurables were off the charts.
Not sure any of that really matters any more. It all sounds great but real life stepped in and it could be all over for him now.

I would think Bruce Carter or the impending Josh Brent would better wear the title of Mr. Irrelevant.

I think it's time to stop worrying about the Jimmy Smith scenario. When was the last time it happened? It's been what 20 years now? I doubt he's worried that he'll turn into a star player if he can't even see the field after 4 years

They've had other players that were cut that went on to have success with other teams. Their success was not to the extent of Jimmy Smith, but they has success nonetheless.

Matt Johnson has only been here 2 years.

Once the put him on IR last season, it would be stupid to not keep him through the duration of this training camp. The cost is very near zero. It's 1 spot on the 90 man roster. Those spots are so important that they have a 2nd long snapper and they have Okoye who can't do anything (Active PUP and Active NFI players count against the 90 man roster).

I have to say I'm pulling for him to get out on the field and show what he can do. I can't help but feel for the guy it seems he has done everything you can do to try and get himself physically ready and to once again fall victim to a hamstring. However if he is unable to get out on the field and produce then the Cowboys will have no choice but to release him.

I'll debate merit involved with Bruce Carter receiving a disclaimer as Mr. Irrelevant. Much of the defense sways on his play this season, for a starter...

Let me say this, thus, unto you.
There are peeps in this world who state a position.
there are peeps who, instead of offering a clear rebuttal or reason for displeasre, a multi-word response.
Mein teacher always say that those people are either dismissive, restricted in they're minds or of minds very small and venimous.
We half seen those of three kinds here.
If they look into their sparse minds and soul . . . hey why shold I tell them how to overcome their ways when they're ways is entertaining as to how spartan of mind they is?
Carry on. Denigrate. Be dismissive. Be snarky and stuff but most of all, let us no how shallow your word thoughts is.
Your supreme truth guy whether you likes it or not.

On a defense that coming off the worst season ever for a defense I see no reason to waste a roster spot on a guy who has never made it past training camp. We just let Ware, Hatcher, and Ratliff go but we're afraid of losing this guy?
Cut!

Seems like we have some good depth at WR, I hope we don't keep this experiment any longer, then let a kid with some potential walk.

What you getting it? Keeping an active roster spot for him and letting a better player go?

some people have zero patience and when they want something done, it must be done now to be "effective". it doesn't matter if it makes sense, they just need it done to make them happy, not try to make sense.

No, we have too many good players at other positions to let this guy hang on.
