Flozell Adams was 6'7" and started out at left guard...also had a hearing defect.
He did start out at LOG his rookie year I forgot about that! Then moved to OT his second year. Side note on Flozell... he is often overlooked as one of the top offensive linemen in Cowboy history, only Larry Allen (ten), Rayfield Wright (six), Nate Newton (six), and John Niland (six) have more Pro Bowl selections among former Cowboy great OL's.

Skipper may not manage to shine at guard but if he can simply do enough to get by, he might have a chance to remain as a RT. Granted, it's probably a longshot but it's worth a try. I doubt Pollack would waste time with him if he thought it was hopeless.

He's one of our guys for now, so I'll pull for his success. But I don't see it. If he had the arms to match the height, maybe. But with his body type and movement skills, it's a long shot. We'll see...sometimes these underdog types are coached up and magic happens.

He did OK against Myles Garrett in college without help.

He most certainly didn't. He had to cut-block Garrett in order to stop him.

It was that injury that hurt Garrett for the remainder of his final year at A&M, and is the source of any arguments about Garrett not being worthy of the first pick.

All because of Skipper.

I was reading this BEFORE looking at your name and my thought was that this has to be an Aggie fan.

Then I see your name and it's confirmed.

put him on the D LINE

I was thinking the same. If a problem with playing offensive line is the fact that he's 6'10 and QBs can't throw over him, why not flip it around and turn his disadvantage into an advantage?

Doesn't change what factually happened. Skipper cut block and injured Garrett, and Garrett was not the same player for the rest of the season.

It's easy to do "ok" against an opponent after you injure them.

And I'm not claiming it was an illegal play or that he was dirty. Just that he injured Garrett.

Did it happen the 1st play of the game?

Well, you do have to know he did run a 5.42 at the combine.

I'm all for trying things out, but Skipper is just too slow of foot to play TE. Heck, he's too slow to play OT right now. He needs alot of work.
True, there are many NFL teams where he might not be a good fit as a TE, but Dallas is a bit of a throwback in the way they view the TE position. Blocking is just as important to them for TE's as being a receiver. Many teams use TE's almost purely for their receiving ability, but because the running game is such a big part of the 'Boys offensive identity, they also want their TE's to be able to handle blocking duties well.

And as a former offensive tackle, that is one thing Skipper should have down pat. Witten has long been a clutch receiver, but he also is very effective in securing the edge for outside runs. Escobar was a good receiver, but it was his mediocre blocking performance that likely led to him not working out in Dallas.

Skippy and Rico could be the biggest TE's in Football

I like the article from blogging the boys which said team should use Skipper in the redzone as a TE. Another weapon for Dak.

Whats his vertical? He could be 7'2" and if his vertical is not very good a 6" CB would have no problem with him
