After two games 3rd in total D. 1st against the run. 9th vs the pass.
Philly was known as a top offense before this game.

Having a coach on the field as well in Lee has been a big help. This defense is playing great and should be down right scary when Hardy, Gregory and McClain get back into the line up.

Remember when @Risen Star uses to mock people worried about losing Rod?

The "but who will pass out nicknames" joke sucked then.... But at least there is some humor in hindsight.

Only thing is we aren't laughing at the story just the storyteller.

We aren't the Steel Curtain or the 85 Bears but we ply good team Defense. Every talking head is saying the Eagles aren't clicking I say our D was keeping them from clicking. Think about the fact we,re missing 4 key players on Defense Hardy, Ro, Gregory, and Orlando, plus we didn't have Dez and Romo missed part of the game that Eagles game would have been a MASSACRE

I'm a little more hesitant to say it's much better than what we saw last year. Lee was a beast Sunday and helped completely nullify the Eagles' running game. However, there were some passes there to hit if Bradford had played better (and receivers had caught the ball) and we didn't really pressure him enough to affect those throws.

Now, I thought we did an outstanding job on Beckham the previous week and feel our secondary has played better overall. We just need more pressure on the QB that will hopefully come when Hardy and Gregory return.

We look like some of those Bears defenses he had but I don't remember those Bears defenses being this fast.

It seemed like when the Bears were going deep in the playoffs that his defense was a turnover machine.. 1 tipped ball and it was picked.

If this defense had a prime Urlacher to stick in the middle... Oh man.

Well, I can tell how excited you are about Rod from the title, though I don't think it's supposed to make noise. You may want to have that checked out.

They sucked because they played Sean Lee and our secondary.

True, we have people here who have talked of the genius of Chip Kelly. No way his great offense could be shut down unless some one just out played them. hell Dallas defense was in the backfield as much as Bradford was if anyone does not believe that ask Murray, Mathews and Sproles. Philly wanted to run and there was no place to go. lol

Not saying that the defense isn't playing well. They shut down Obj but Bradford was awful, plus they dropped some passes. If they shut down Julio that will impressive.

Bradford had nowhere to go with the ball.

Most QB suck under those circumstances.

WE played 2 deep safeties and manned up on all those drag routes. Nothing was open.

Remember when the Tampa 2 was an "outdated" defense according to this board and that's why we were terrible in 2013 (and not because of the ABSURD amount of defensive injuries we suffered that season)? I do.

How did Lee get so good? He doesn't look like he would be that tough to block.

Read, recognition and react. Lee studies like a coach, when he see the formation then reads the play at the snap he knows what is coming and reacts quickly to it. To me Lee is like having an extra coach except he is in the huddle and on the field

Philly has been a train-wreck the off-season and everybody was questioning what Chip was even doing. If people are saying it was supposedly good, they only did it recently and probably was just hype.

That being said, the defense is playing well... I think a lot of it has to do simply with Sean Lee, who is apparently a coach on the field.
