Philly has been a train-wreck the off-season and everybody was questioning what Chip was even doing. If people are saying it was supposedly good, they only did it recently and probably was just hype.

That being said, the defense is playing well... I think a lot of it has to do simply with Sean Lee, who is apparently a coach on the field.

They had a fantastic preseason leading everyone to believe they were about to run the world.

If they can stay in striking distance of the NFC East until Romo and Dez get back, I like the Cowboys' chances to get in the playoffs. If they make the playoffs, watch out. The will be a team that nobody wants to face and I can see them winning on the road ANYWHERE.

Yeah the East looks like what the South was last season. Philadelphia and New York are both 0-2 who were both expected to be the Cowboys main competition. The Commanders are 1-1, but does anyone really fear them? They beat a Rams team that was clearly on a high over beating Seattle.

All we have to do is win this garbage division and with a healthy Romo and Dez we can beat anyone.

So the preseason wasn't an aberration?

They're playing smart. Very well coached and it shows.

It also helps having Sean Lee back on the field. The impact he has on the defense is on par, or as close as it can be for a defender, with that of a franchise QB on offense.

We aren't the Steel Curtain or the 85 Bears but we ply good team Defense. Every talking head is saying the Eagles aren't clicking I say our D was keeping them from clicking. Think about the fact we,re missing 4 key players on Defense Hardy, Ro, Gregory, and Orlando, plus we didn't have Dez and Romo missed part of the game that Eagles game would have been a MASSACRE

Okay were the Steel Mesh then.

You know, I've always been Captain Positive but these injuries to Dez and now Romo are devastating. I'm pretty bummed out about this season.

I am not. There is something about this team. I have never felt this ways since the 90's not even last year, I didn't have the feeling we could go all the way. We are going all the way this year just something I feel.

I think we can safely agree at this point that Rod Marinelli is, in fact, as good a DC as his reputation suggested he was all along. He's done a great job in a short time, and we haven't really even approached our ceiling yet.

Except me, I never bought into it that all the changes made them better. I laughed at the prep-season and told everyone just wait till the season starts. Chip dismantled this team and back to college for him to add to all those national championships he has.

True and doing it short handed. No Hardy, No Gregory, No McClain and no Scandrick.

Remember when the Tampa 2 was an "outdated" defense according to this board and that's why we were terrible in 2013 (and not because of the ABSURD amount of defensive injuries we suffered that season)? I do.

The Cowboys are not playing the Tampa-2 defense. That was a zone scheme. The Cowboys have been playing primarily man coverage.

Which probably demonstrates my point...

Jimmy Johnson was awful in pre-season with the Cowboys regularly. Anybody that knows football knows that pre-season record doesn't correlate to the real season.

A good pre-season can't overcome the many irrational moves Chip made that he was getting blasted for..

I think he never wanted to go pro anyways, but the NCAA was probably going to come after him. The NFL was a stop gap.

He never seemed like a guy who was into the pro league. But that's my subjective take based on his face.
