Great coach but I wouldn't sit next to him in a coaching booth.
He would literally smoke me out of there.

Probably the father of today's passing game and the architect of the timing pass.
CouchCoach - kudos for your insightful post.
As much as NFL Fans are knowlegeable about their own teams' history....they also should research innovative coaches that have revolutionized the league to what it is now.

My memories are of him smoking cigarettes in the booth.
- He made it to 86.
- It seems that cigarettes are not bad for some people.
- Keith Richards is 78 & and I've never seen him without a cig in hand.

It’s time we all stop to reflect upon what kind of world we are leaving behind for Keith Richards.

RIP. The last of the chain-smoking booth coaches. LOL

I remember how him and Switzer were the scapegoats for the declining 90’s team.

And I’m not saying they were without their faults, but a lot of fans had no clue back then on how bad of a GM Jerry was.

If this message board existed back then, and I posted something about Jerry’s talent acquisition choices, I would have been torn up by 90% of the board.

It was that bad back then. Jerry still had everyone fooled.

Great offensive mind.

I always picture him with a wad of pens, markers, and pencil in his hand up in the booth with cigarette smoke going everywhere.
