Not my question, but absolutely not.

Everybody knew the play was going to play action and roll Dak right hoping to find Schultz or Gallup in the back of the end zone
Chiefs scored 3 TD's last night on the inside toss pass to Hardman. Maybe Dallas should install during the bye for Turpin.

No I want to know what your thoughts are would you have done the same thing. If you were a coach what was your decision. How much rather talk about a football situation. Much better than , Some of these topics go around here
Ohhh gotcha, that makes way more sense.

For the Eagles game, other than not challenging the call I'm fine with the call. Just being inches away I would rather run the football, qb sneak anything but that play action they called, but as far as just going for it I like the call. Playing a good team on the road down by two scores lets go for it.

As far as the Lions game goes I think taking the 3 is the right move. Even though I think they convert that more often than not the right move is to take the FG. You are playing an inferior team at home. The worst thing I think you can do there is botch a 4th down play and give a lesser team more momentum. The key to that game really was to not lose it more than anything.

I understand Romo’s explanation. But I was very surprised that they didn’t go for it. To total different situations with different results

Glad you recognize they were two totally different situations.

Usually a good indicator they shouldn't be compared to each other.

Going for it against Philly was a mental error on the part of the coach. Not going for it against the Lions was the right move to me because I agree with John Madden. Before taking chances like that get your first points on the board.

Try to explain this one. Against the Eagles on our own side of the field go for it on fourth down. Inside the 3 yard line against the lions we kick a field goal. This is how Prescott is better than a Cooper Rush. The coaching staff knew against the Eagles we need to get first downs for not gonna get another chance. Whereas against the Lions they knew we would come back. We left 14 points on the field yesterday. Noah Brown fumble. And I don’t blame him that was a massive hit. And not going for it on fourth down inside the three online
Situational football. Aside from not asking for a review of the first down- they shouldn’t have went for it in philly either!

Against Philly we were playing a much better football team and needed to take some chances. When you’re an underdog on the road, playing against a better team, you have to pull out all the stops. Jimmy used to do it all the time when he first took over the Cowboys. Against Detroit it was a close game and we were able to play a lot safer. We were the better team.
Good post.

You can never compare 4th down decisions between games. Every scenario is different. Every single time.

I didn't like the call either but at the same time I understand what MM was trying to do.

The Eagles were kicking our butts at that point and we needed a spark. MM was hoping a 1st down conversion would swing the momentum in our direction. It didn't work.

However, if it did work CowboysZone would be calling him a genius and talking about how we are so glad we have a coach who doesn't coach scared.

I think McCarthy felt the game slipping away down by 14 against the Eagles and needed a spark to stay in it. Yesterday, a field goal there keeps the game to a 1 possession game even if the Lions scored on the next drive. Though our Madden hats say kicking a field goal is a loss it was the right call there.

against philly we had to take some chances, knowing that we needed it. against Detroit, you take the points, play conservatively because the points will come and eventually you win....

its not a Rush, vs. Dak thing, but then again everything on this board is a Dak thing, including Maher kicking and Anger punting.

Fourth-and-one is really quite a bit different from fourth-and-two. That said, they should have gone for it yesterday and I was very surprised they didn't.
