Coaching Change Report

How can you fire a coach when the team has suffered this many injuries and still competed for a division title? Honestly this team has no business winning 7 games with this many injuries.

I understand making some coaching changes. Particularly on the defensive side of things.

How many of those injuries have been on offense? We lost Murray for a while and Costa, but not much else. The offense has been a mess this season, from penalties, slow starts, horrible game managment, etc. That is all on Garrett, not the injuries.

My gripe with Garrett is simple, a better coach with good game managment skills wins both the Baltimore game and the 2nd Giant game. Garrett absolutely botched those two at the end, that is the playoffs right there.

Now I hope we win out and make the playoffs but if we don't, I'm looking for another coach.

How exactly does the WRs having to be told where to line up have anything to do with injuries?

How does poor clock management and use of timeouts have anything to do with injuries?

How does lack of situational football, down and distance, terrible play calling, ect....have anything to do with injuries?

These are problems we have had every single year on offense under Garrett and have nothing to do with injuries. That is why most fans consider Garrett to be average at best.

Sigh. This stuff again? First of all, these things all factor into this year's record, so, if they really matter--or if you're bothering to characterize them fairly--they're already accounted for as far as their impact on wins and losses are concerned.

WRs having to be told where to lineup: I don't know that I've ever seen anyone who knows what's going on attempt to explain what's actually being said, have you? It's possible that we're making adjustments of a sort other teams don't, or that Tonys's using the time to reinforce something he wants clear. People don't like seeing movement right before the snap, but that doesn't mean it's the result of poor coaching. It's obvious Dez and KO have made wrong sight adjustments this year, but that's another matter.

Clock management is an area where we need to improve, though people have ridiculous overreactions to stupid things like 'icing kickers' that really have little or not impact on outcomes. And there are always fans who are gong to second guess conservative clock management once a team gets into fg range. Sometimes that criticism's valid, sometimes it's not or is just a matter of personal preference and not an indication of a coaching problem.

The criticisms of Garrett's situational football, play calling and what you're referring to as a lack of down and distance are mostly gibberish, at least from what I've read on the forum: typical second guess of plays that work but weren't executed, nonsense complaining about a single WR running a short route on 3rd and long when that's obviously done by design. Criticizing the HC for being slow to challenge plays he challenges and wins. You know, nonsense.

I've been told that wins are what matters. We've won 4 out of 5 and are winning about as often as anybody else playing the same division and conference games we're playing. Suddenly, the wins aren't as important. Go figure. I wonder if that'll hold up on Sunday if we lose to the Steelers. What do you think?

The best part is all these arm chair coaches on this board speak as if they know more about being a coach than an actual NFL coach.
Its obvious that JG is going to be here for years to come. I actually hope this Sean Payton thing stays up in the air for months just to lead these guys on.

How is that? Jerry has let Garrett have a say in the player and who plays. Jerry gets these players paid we don't have hold outs so how is Jerry tying the coaches hand? Seriously, it is easy to make these comments but tell me where is Jerry keeping Garrett from doing his job?

One obvious example is the coaches wanted Holland but instead were given Loper and Dockery, neither of whom can play.

Here's the thing, right now, nobody knows that, not even Jerry, heck, not even you. You have to let the season play out and see what happens, can I see the Cowboys playing great the rest of the season and Garrett staying for a while, of course, but I could also see them taking a giant dump in the middle of Cowboys stadium and sealing Garrett's fate.

It is frankly annoying when people speak in absolutes, I mean, is it really obvious Garrett is going to be here for years to come? No it is absolutely not, is it obvious he is going to be fired? Again, no.

Now you may want him to be here for the next 35 years, but just wanting something doesn't make it so.

Look buddy, first things first. I KNOW EVERYTHING, if you dont believe it Ill even PM you and tell you. 35 years? Uhhh, try fifty. Anyway, I know I was pretty much just talking out of my butt. Initally I had not really even taken a stance to the "happy fans" (what a dumb name lol) or "realist" revolution bickering that goes on here. To be honest, like most, I just want the team I cheer for to achieve greatness. Over the season Ive leaned more toward the side of sticking with JG bc honestly I just feel he is the man to get it done. Of coarse when opinions are voiced the other side chimes in with the usual poison. I doubt any of us are qualified to make an educated decision on the matter but I guess this is the forum to debate such matters. When making an argument to promote my agenda I feel compelled to make absurd claims and predictions in a bold effort to fight fire with fire. If he makes it 35 years it will be because of wonder winning seasons. Sign me up.

We lost our center for game or two or so. Miles Austin missed games. I believe Tyron Smith was out a game early in the year.

I can understand some of the game management issues here and there but that happens a lot with a bunch of coaches. Even great ones mismanage games. Tom Landry mismanaged his share of games over the years so did Jimmy Johnson. Even Lombardi did believe it or not.

If we win 8 or 9 games I don't see Garrett getting fired. And do you really want anywhere near Sean Payton after he was basically blamed for what happened with the Saints? I would rather go somewhere else than Payton. If he allows something similar it could be harmful to the entire organization in a way that was eve worse than what the Saints went through. But changing coaches every couple of years needs to stop. We need to stick with a guy stick, and see it through. And getting rid of a guy for competing in a year like this one where half the roster is injured should be damn near coach of the year worthy not a year to fire the guy.

Perhaps he is a little more rational than most but most Payton supports are quick to point out how he won a SB and the Saints success but win not let his name be attached to their misfortunes.
