This is players game. Andy Reid never won the big one till Mahomes came.
Bellichik doesnt even take the patriots to playoffs without Brady.

Times of Tom landry, Bill Walsh, Vince Lombardi coaching was needed due to social conditions also. Now every athlete gets top dollar, colleges are grooming most players to pro style, at least in SEC.

When we had the best Oline, Jason Garrett team was #1 seed.

In the salary cap era, I have stated it takes 1 or 2 abnormally talented players during the right year, with the right depth, a small amount of injuries, and random factors outside anyones control like schedule, ref calls, luck plays.

A team can give themselves a higher percentage by drafting well and building a team, but those qualification I listed are the pattern. Aside from brady being the anomaly, there is a very small window for those abnormally talented players to get 1 or 2 superbowls, and it is over.

Coaches are management, they are needed and some fit better than others with players and scheme, but not a big deal

LOL. Dude. Reid got to the SB with McNabb and missing his number 1 WR (the WR in football at that time)

He also was in a bunch of NFCCG before going to KC.

Reid is probably the worst example you could have given.

Coaching is much more than making speeches in the locker room.

Generally agree. Good coaching can only take you so far. An elite coach might add a win or two to a season, but it's the roster that matters.

How many coaches have the Cowboys gone through since the last championship?
How many of those seasons did the team possess a true championship caliber roster?

In the age of parity where you cannot build and keep a dynasty, you will play at least two teams that have equal talent to yours in the playoffs. Coaching matters. The Cowboys should be more aware of that than most fans.

Every coach needs good players. That doesn't mean you're going to win. Good coaching doesn't have to mean you can take a crap or average team and win a championship.

Look at how the Eagles game planned around their 2nd round pick quarterback to get the best out of him. They have a lot of talent, but their entire gameplan is utilizing the QBs strengths. Running the ball. Passing when the defense is selling out to stop the run. That's all coaching.

The Jags had the first pick in the draft. They are now in the playoffs after being worst last year. Coaching had a lot to do with that.
And it wasn't urban Meyer. He is an example of what a bad coach can do to a team.

.....that would mean you're saying KMoore is overrated as the OC.

Don't tell the Chargers, Dolphins, Giants, Jaguars or Vikings that.

Dont agree, just look at Parcells - 4 stops and he changed the culture and left the teams WAYYYYY better than when he got there.

Now yes you obviously need talent but, a good coach will give you a direction, will change the culture, will hold players accountable, will know how to make a player better and get the best out of him.
