Coaching is overrated

Coaching sure has made a difference in the history of the Cowboys. We've had two great ones (Landry & Johnson), one great one that was too late in his career (Parcells), and several mediocre to bad coaches (everybody else). You can do the math on how the franchise fared under each.

15% good management 25% Scouting (GM) 25% coaching 35% good players

The head coach makes a fraction of what the top players make especially the QB. The true leaders of a team are the highest paid players. They are the ones that set the tone for what is and is not acceptable behavior. When the leader of your defense is D Flaw you get the HotBoyz. You get Xavier Woods. You get Jaylon Smith. You get zero accountability and you get the worst stretch of defense in team history. When the leader of your offense is Dez Bryant or Zeke you get the same thing. Meetings are optional. Preparation is non existent. When the leader of your team is Tom Brady there is no excuse. You either prepare and perform or you are gone.

The coaching staff works for the players. If the players are not on board there is nothing they can do to help.

The stupidity of the idea that coaching does not matter is beyond belief

we just got through 10 years of mediocre coaching and some so called fan thinks that did not matter?

Beyond stupid.

This is players game. Andy Reid never won the big one till Mahomes came.
Bellichik doesnt even take the patriots to playoffs without Brady.

Times of Tom landry, Bill Walsh, Vince Lombardi coaching was needed due to social conditions also. Now every athlete gets top dollar, colleges are grooming most players to pro style, at least in SEC.

When we had the best Oline, Jason Garrett team was #1 seed.

Not true. It's not that it's overrated, it's that it takes talent. Talent in pointless w/o coaching, and coaching doesn't work w/o talent.

Trying to make it one or the other is a Jerry type thinking.
