When you win, everything looks good. When you score, it’s “a great call”. When an individual player has a good game, everyone says “why can’t he do that every week. Run the touchdown play!” The coaches “finally started doing _____ .” Again, winning makes everything different.

When you lose, even the good plays are forgotten. When a lineman misses an assignment and the play call blows up, fans call it “a stupid call” and scream “run the ____ play that always works”.

Seriously, I do think Linehan and Garrett are way, way too conservative by nature which I think hurts this team, but I don’t know if these guys will ever stop being who they are.

Whatever we saw good tonight may be even better next week, or it may be bad again next week. The NFL is a week to week thing, Matchups are different. What worked this week against the midgets may not work next week against the seabags. THATS THE NFL!!!

Now as I said previously, the playcalling in the second and third were eh.

But.

An offense and defense work in unison. Maybe part of the reason we were conservative is we trusted our defense.

When the Seahawks defense was great, they weren’t winning every game 40-6. It was scores like today.

Maybe, I don't think werwe at their level yet. We need to show confidence in our ofdeoffand let them grow. We can't hold them back. We should have sewn the game up in the third quarter

I've noticed we always seem to coach better in games where the players execute well.

Our offensive staff crapped their pants when we went up. They went conservative way too early. Defense did a great job.

Thats a trademark of Garrett. He does that all the time. When it comes to offense it should be peddle to the metal from start to finish. Thats how you get better on offense. And thats how you actually win more games. This going conservative crap with a small lead is too stale and boring.

It was better, but your offense cannot take off two and a half quarters and win when playing good teams.

THIS! We need our offense to resemble 2016 when we are playing better teams. Our defense is going to wear down having to maintain single possession leads against a better offense. It would be a welcome site to see the offense pull away when the defense shows up like this against a struggling team. If we had really dominated the whole game the score would have ended up like the Rams/Cardinals game.

I'm gonna have to give a nod to JG, 3 things I liked on O

- giving Dak more control at the LOS - led to fewer OL miscues, throwing more slants, and going deep (simple timing routes) early.

- let Dak run, let him move the chains

- more Austin, more Rico, more common sense, fewer penalties

On D more of the same

- absolute confidence in our CBs

- Eli is easy to blitz but, well designed

- only one blown coverage for this young D

*** IMO, JG is far better vs the NFCE than the rest of the NFL.

It's more than players just 'playing better' as the reason the coaches look better. There's a reason the defense has looked sharp all throughout preseason and still do in regular season even with some of the biggest players like Irving and Randy Gregory on the sideline. There's a reason why Byron Jones looks like an elite corner as opposed to a bust at safety. We got a coach with a championship pedigree and brought him here. Our corners actually turn their head around now. That's a sign of excellent coaching.

On offense, when there was actually creativity, we marched down the field easily. The coaches need to step up on offense.

Best thing about this game was our coaches showed up big time. I have not said that for a long time. Marinelli had the D line confusing the Giants O line consistently. Richards had the DB’s playing with excellent technigue, especially our CB’s. Linehan played to Dak’s strength. The RPO’s and read options opened things up for Dak and Zek, actually the whole offense. This Giants D is tough. Our O played them pretty smart. Also, Giants O has a ton of talent. We used an excellent blitz package and great run D to slow down their offense. Keep it up coaches!!!

In the first half... we need to keep it up all game long...

Secondly, our offense still sucks. Im still not impressed. They should have had Dak from the get go use the RPO. We also need to get Zeke more involved with the passing game. I hate it when we have a small lead Garrett tends to get conservative. Yes, that's his trademark.

Agreed.
Richard is also defensive passing game coordinator ... he is not only the DB coach .

We can see a great improvement in defense, offense looks the same as last year .. might be wrong, maybe its just rust .

Maybe they are executing better because the coaching was better.
It's not just our team. Look around the league. Bortles, Goff both looks much better with a new coach.
