He’s okay when the ball is actually in his hands. But, at this point he is really struggling to get any separation. Lewis is destroying him every single time. He has no burst in his get off and looks stiff. I hate to say it but maybe he’s washed up?

I don't know his history he could just be a poor practice receiver but I actually didn't like him when he was with the Packers either.

I think one must also realize that not every play is designed for Cobb. Against some defensive sets, a curl or any other route will be open for a completion. Against another defensive set, the curl is expected to be covered to pull a defender and allow another route to be open. It’s not about a superhuman receiver winning on every route. Offenses aren’t designed that way. You cannot just watch one guy on every play and think he should be open....progressions begin with the guy most likely to be open, the guy the play should work best for versus a particular D.

Cobb is not going to be as dangerous with short area quickness and getting separation as Beasley was. He just isn’t. Beasley is one of the best in the league period at what he does.

We have to hope Cobb makes up for it by having a bit more run after the catch ability than Beasley.

I also think having Witten back will help. Beasley’s biggest factor was that on 3rd and 5 or so he was the primary target. Witten can be that guy still I think.

I also think that Jourdan Lewis can make a lot of receivers look bad. Lewis legit has the natural ability to be a high end starter/pro bowl player. He would have most likely been a first rounder, if not for the domestic violence allegations that he was found innocent of.

It’s not hyperbole or homerism to think that Lewis could be developing into a high end corner. Although he doesn’t quite fit Richards system.
