Of course it’s a burden when the team is a laughingstock that can’t handle pressure! People love to see that and the Cowboys are very good at giving them exactly what they’re looking for! That’s the Jerry effect because once upon a time that name represented poise and the ability persevere. Now people just equate it to tv ratings!

It was a burden back in our glory eras. We just had better teams to overcome .

It has everything to do with the "Cowboys are the bad guys" culture.

Nobody ever cared about GB and the braggadocious "Title Town" moniker. It's only when Dallas gets anything special do people lose their minds.

no side stepping. just reality about cowboys. they are one of the most talked about teams in media. they were 2nd in viewing behind detroit, despite the 7-10 record. its a freaking marketing machine, milking both sides of the equation. enough people hate them to be engaged. enough people like them to be engaged. there is a smaller than the two in the middle that don't care.

To be honest, I don’t hear Cowboys fans saying America's Team. It's always the people who hate the Cowboys. It's really ironic.

All it did was paint a bigger target on our backs. Any team in the league is free to take it.

Netflix has a Jerry special coming up (and I don't mean Springer, although he has one too). It will be interesting what the ratings are for that show. The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders show does very well on Netflix. The brand is branding, whether we like it or not.

Tedious listening to other fans or to media talk try to presume themselves to be the judge.

"America's Team" isn't a matter of one person deciding on a few data points to back up his/her assertion they're no more America's Team. In fact, the very fact that a person paid to talk is... *ahem*... talking about the... who?... the Cowboys... is contradictory evidence on its face.

I personally don't like the fact that I happen to have randomly chosen this football card at the left as a young kid as my favorite player, and his team my favorite team. In very few areas of my life am I part of any majority or plurality, but this did happen to be one.

There simply, objectively, is no more widely popular team in any sports league... perhaps "as" popular, but not more.

No it isn't. NFL Films came up with the nickname. That the Cowboys anointed themselves America's Team is one of the biggest myths around.

Fans already have. No longer are we the evil empire, feared, arrogant and respected. We're a clown show, a Persian Bazzare with a punchline at every turn. No fans I talk to anymore hate the Cowboys, they just laugh. They roll their eyes and laugh at my license plate. I see and hear it every day.
