That’s what he said . But I seriously doubt he has any control here. Was it more than at GB, who knows.

I do think Dallas is a player friendly franchise. But it’s not fable our ownership isn’t attracting the best HC prospects . And I doubt we are even pursuing them.

Oh so in other words forget what he says and come to you for the real story.

We aren't attracting the best candidates? We go to them, they don't come to us. Now tell me what coach has turned us down.

I get it. You're bitter.

I would accept Mike McCarthy as the head coach of the Cowboys in 2025. He was hired to work with Dak Prescott and get the team into a deep playoff run (SB even). Obviously Prescott is not elite and the run has not happened. But he has been about as successful as possible considering the front office he has to work with. The players seem to endorse him. But I ask if not MM then who? Personally I have no trust in the Jones boys making a new coaching hire.

He lost a lot during the last off season talent wise. The FO had a terrible run of contract garbage. Team FA left and were not replaced. He had to accept Zeke as his top RB at the start of the season even though Elliott hit the RB wall years ago. He had to deal with Lance and work with him even though the guy likely will never play a truly meaningful down for the team. He had to work on an expiring contract as the owner waffled between not renewing him and praising him. He has endured a lot and he did it without being critical of things publicly.

He may get other offers. He is not bad for sure. A lot of teams with rosters equal or even better than the Cowboys will be hiring. I would be shocked if his agents or reps are not already putting out feelers. He may not want to coach next year and sit like he did for a season after Green Bay.

As fans we should be satisfied with him returning. The Jones boys could and have often done much worse.

Corky DID have Dim at QB earlier in the season when they put the playoffs out of reach....so why does a few wins now against scrub teams save his job? I'll tell you why....Booger and Chuckles are too scared to make ANY moves that might put in jeopardy their empire....any they are incompetent to make even the smallest of organizational changes....other organizations do it on the fly several times a decade....not these stagnant boobs. BTW....within three (3) years, Will McClay will be made the AD, and things will not get any better.

The question should be out of all available HC candidates, who would be willing to coach for Jerry?

It’s amazing to see the same fans say that this job isn’t desirable and the franchise and simultaneously expect the top available candidates to come here. How can it be both?

With the cowboys - we always have to have the perspective of who would Dallas actually hire and who would actually come? When those 2 things factor in, you’re hard pressed to do better than McCarthy on paper

MM is doing the best with the situation and hand he has been dealt. He has no say in personnel, and probably none in his staff.
Yeah the only problem with that is.....he knew what he was walking into when he took the job. There were no surprises.

Yeah the only problem with that is.....that has nothing to do with what he was hired for.

If you’re alluding to Super Bowl or bust- then you may as well also wait for the Easter bunny to come so you can give him a hug. It’s fantasy land talk. Saying Super Bowl or bust is low hanging fruit, bumper sticker stuff for simpletons. Of course he was brought here to win a Super Bowl- spoiler alert ; every team makes a hire with the intention of that coach bringing them a super Bowl.

The reality tho- is that under Garrett and other coaches the cowboys organization was a roller coaster, up and down, up and down, 8-8, 12-4, 5-11. There was no consistency or the consistency for Garrett was .500 teams. So while yes, goal 1A is always a championship or championship game, the franchise needed to first become a team that could consistently be competing in the playoffs and winning double digits games year in year out.

McCarthy has brought more stability here than anyone else has in 2 decades, far from perfect and we should be far from satisfied but he has made the team competitive and respectable and in contention for the playoffs every year which allows them to be able to try and achieve the ultimate goal of number 6.

He also was brought here to work with dak, and dak while flawed, while overpaid had his best year ever under McCarthy. That matters.

I don't care about his career. Let's look at what he's done in Dallas:
  • Not accomplished what he was hired for.
Right. I don't think he's a bad coach, but he has had five years to get us back to an NFC Championship Game/Super Bowl, so he's not the coach we need with this front office. We probably won't find that guy, but I'd rather give the next guy a try than to continue on in a direction that has not brought us the results we seek.

If McCarthy leaves or is let go and he goes on to have success elsewhere, it would just further illustrate that this front office is the problem, not the coach.

I think he has a say here, which is probably more than he had in Green Bay. I doubt he's upset at all with the draft choices we've made since he's been here, but he obviously has not been able to convince the Joneses to do more in free agency (if he's even tried).

He has more input here in the draft than he ever had in Green Bay which was none. He's addressed this several times.

Disgruntled fans create this world where nobody wants to coach and play here. It's fantasy. They can't reference when this has ever happened.
If MM leaves for another offer and rejects running it back with JJ I feel that would be a silent indictment of how he feels about putting his eggs in Dak Prescott's basket.

IMO an offensive coach would look at his starting QB as one fo the foundation elements of a decision to stay or go.

Laughable.

Every single one of them would lose a limb to coach here.
Yes coaches are lining up to be underpaid and hamstrung with an incompetent narcissist GM who happens to be the owner. Guys will take the job because there are only 32 spots but Dallas is a poor situation for a coach. You win Jerry will take credit, you lose, you get the blame.

What better head coach are we going to get? In terms of resume very few would qualify from this era. Andy Reid isn't leaving Kansas City. Bill Belichick just left for college. There really isn't a proven upgrade left.
thats the problem. We waited a year too long. Jim Harbaugh was the guy to get.

Name one that's ever turned him down.
