I’m on record as wanting MM back. You’ll never convince me that MM isn’t a good HC. I think he’s a fantastic HC who players respect. He’s brought consistency to this organization even when the teams are decimated by injury. If MM chooses to leave I think it will speak volumes about the organization and the QB position IMO.

I'm not a huge MM fan, but he is NOT the problem, and is most likely the best HC we could hope for. Anyone analyzing him who is not taking into account the hamstringing Jerry does to his HC should stop trying to analyze.

He's too tentative; freezes up and gets too conservative with the offense when the game gets to the last quarter if it's close.
That being said, I think he is a very good head coach.
Everybody has weaknesses. If he can get past that, he can be great.
I think his play calling reflects his QB's performance. I felt Kellen Moore also got thrown under the bus for the same thing.

Probably so, to an extent, but it's an easy trap to fall into.
After Rush was almost intercepted late vs the Buccaneers, McCarthy got noticeably conservative.
"Almost" is not an interception. You have to keep playing to win. I understand clock management and I know he was eating the clock, but the defense knows that, too.
There are opportunities, and just because Rush doesn't go deep doesn't mean he can't. He's pretty accurate at 50 yds, and that opens the secondary.
I think there is a lot more to see from Rush if McCarthy would let him.
