So I am checking into my dorm room for sophomore year. I walk into my room and the first thing I see is a Houston Texans poster! My roommate is a Texan fan. Ugg. All I can say is they better win friday or I will have to hear about for a year even though its preseason.

Try not to laugh in his face. Make a concerted effort.

In a pinch talk to him about Jacques "The Low Hurdle" Reeves skills. You can read eduncan22's posts for fodder.

Last I checked gay people and Asians also like sports.

I had a gay roommate. I was a little wary at first but he became a good friend. And he helped out a lot with the ladies who thought it was so cool that I was cool with having a gay roommate.

You might learn a lot this semester, Dawgs. Give the kid a chance, you likely have a lot more in common than you know.

It's not about him being gay, believe it or not. I really don't have a problem with THAT as long as nothing weird goes on but im not really worried about cause there are alot more hot bods he can look at around campus than mine haha.

Its about him not liking sports, and no he doesn't. We already talked. Its frustration about not having someone who I can talk sports with or go to the rec for some basketball. So yeah

My other roommate the year I lived with my gay friend was a sports junkie -- aside from knowing sports, he was boring as hell. Much more fun hanging out talking about other stuff with my other roomie and he was a hell of a lot more interesting at a party.

Yeah, I hear what you are saying. Its good to have at least some common interests. I mean, you can't talk girls or sports, what else is there? haha

I didn't know you were at Tech. By the way Tech sucks!!! :) Ever since they took over my little school all the prices have gone up dang it.

Yeah exactly. Abe it sounds like your situation is just different than mine. I am trying to give him a chance and everything its just weird cause we can't talk about anything.

He doesnt even like The Office. He is into all these weird shows. And like Eric said if you can't talk about girls or sports what else can you talk about.

Eric what school are you in? Is it San Angelo?

LOL... OK, now for one of my stories...

After I enrolled at UTEP, they sent me a questionnaire to fill out, to help pick out a roomate of similar interests... well, I got down there, and the guy they picked out as a good match for me was 26, fresh out of the Army... I was 18, barely... he was an engineering major, I was a microbiology major... I had all day classes, mostly morning classes, he had all afternoon and evening classes... he was 6-7, might have weighed 160 pounds...

And he was gay... I mean, SERIOUSLY, out of the closet gay... the first time I walked into the dorm room and found him in bed with a guy, I threw the guy out, and had a serious conversation with him; I'm not homophobic, but I don't have to put up with that crap in my bedroom... he asked me if it was any different from me bringing a girl in there, I told him to bring that one up if and when he ever caught me in bed with a girl in that room...

The second time I caught him in bed with yet another guy, I beat the dogsnot out of both of them... I'll bet they still tell stories about that fight, it spilled out into the halls, drew a real big audience... it got bloody, real fast...

I then called my folks, and they sent down the extra cash I'd need to have a room to myself the rest of my time down there...

It was then that I figured out I wasn't cut out to do the roommate thing...

Haha. Ok you win. My roommate last year was great, both small town country kids. I don't think we had one slight dissagreement.

I don't know if I will get along with my new one, and its not because of the the Texan thing, he just has different morals and such.

But yeah, Dawgs, I'm going to Angelo State in San Angelo, its great here.

after freshmen year, I have never had a roommate. I realized I couldn't have a roommate after I walked in on my roomy getting "deflowered" (I didn't know it at the time cuz I was out partying -- somewhat drunk--came in to get something and left again) and heard her talk about that experience to her best friend the day.

Sophs in a dorm? At UW-Madison, my alma mater, dorms are for freshmen only. Everyone else has to find their own off-campus housing.

It sounds like you might do with expanding your interests a bit - kinda what college is about.
