It's the same idea as when Moss 'caught' that TD against us but it was called back. He had it until he hit the ground and it bobbled. You have to finish the play, and since the whistle wasn't blown, it wasn't "finished."

Ahh yeah gotcha, he cannot have possession unless he controls the ball while having both feet or any body part other than his hands touch the ground, so if he's on top of another player he must control the ball till his feet, knees, elbow, butt or other body part touch the end zone.
