The Colts reportedly worked out Drew Henson on Tuesday.

They also had in WR Kevin McMahan, a seventh-round pick of the Raiders. Neither player has signed with the team at this point.

Its the contract negotiations. Henson wants a 9 year gurranteed deal, so that he's gurranteed the starting job when Manning retires in 2013.

They won't sign him, they can't afford a QB controversy right now.

They don't want to give up a 3rd round pick for him.

Oops ... we were the suckers who gave up the 3rd. :bang2:

It's all a domino theory in work...if we didn't trade for the bust, we may have spent a high pick on a QB in the draft and be without Ware and Spears and who knows who else.

Then again...maybe not.

And Henson will be like 40 years old by then. Henson is a genius. I wish I had his bank account for having done so little.

If Henson is signed by Indy it will not be to compete aginst Manning it will be to get his foot back in the door. It will allow him to continue to work and improve so that he may get a shot down the road with another team.

...got to narrowing fairly quickly. Whether it s contract negotiations or the team doesn't like what it sees for a guy like Henson to still be available is telling.

If the Dallas experience is true in Henson's case he's not going to get any better sitting in his regular clothes and not on a NFL roster practicing.

Every week he sits will be more rust to shake off again. According to media reports in Dallas he was considered pretty rusty at times.

I think that is what he is attempting to do is get on a roster any where he can be it with the colts or some other team so that he can continue to get the work. I'm not saying things will work out for Henson I don't know what the end story will be but I think he is just trying to catch on with someone so that he can get the needed work to try and improve his game.

And after three years backing up Manning, we can resign him and he will be our QBotF!

I doubt he would even want to come back to Dallas. In his mind he would have to feel he was not given much of a chance to compete this past pre-season. I don't fault the Cowboys on that but I could clearly understand Henson frustration. I don't know what is ahead of Henson he may get a chance else where or not, time will tell.

Must not have amounted to much--he didn't even puff himself to the DMN writers. He usually contacts Mosely whenever he tries out for a team; this time Mosely didn't even mention it.

It interests me that the Henson camp was claiming the teams interested in him were Indy, Pittsburgh, & Carolina--all teams with solid QBs for many years. To me, that indicates Henson has finally realized he isn't going to be a starter.

I knew you were being sarcastic in your comment and I'm not offended or upset by it. Let me just say I try and pull for all of our guys who are trying to make the club and I know not everyone is going to make it, that is the way things go in sports. You never know how many chances you may get so you need to make the most out of every opportunity. Bill did not see what he wanted so we move on.

but he's the best Dallascowboys QB prospect since Troy Aikman!!!! sacarsm off/

I somewhat agree with you assesment. I'd expect him seek out a roster spot that doesn't have a entrenched proven starter.

He must have had a come to Jesus talk withhis handlers. I'd expect him to go to a team like the Raiders or Browns.

He's not surpassing Big Ben, Delhomme or Manning in this lifetime. He's not even proven he can be an average back-up.
