TRADED Colts trade five-time Pro Bowl CB Stephon Gilmore to the Cowboys for a 5th round pick

He was better than the replacements we rolled out there after his injury, but he still wasn’t very good, which is why we made this trade.
Yeah, I'm not trying to defend him. He needed upgrading. I thought even if we signed him for cheap this offseason that he'd have to contend with Bland pushing for his spot. I like this better as it gives Bland more of a chance to develop as the slot corner. I still wouldn't mind Brown coming back as the fourth corner because he's better in a pinch that what else we've got. He and Lewis both would give us a little depth in case something happens like last year where we lose both the starter and third corner. It would also make it where Joseph and Wright have to prove they deserve a spot over Lewis for depth purposes. I prefer winning spots over inheriting them because we have no other options.

Spears isn't making out of the third. I'd like to make a wager on him playing 10 games for Dallas.
We can pickup a proven CB in a trade for a late 5th, or wait until late in the 5th round and pick a player that has about a 30% chance of starting for us!
This was a no brainer!

This was GREAT SIGN. Are we seeing a shift in thinking? I believe we are guys. This is a very cheap rental at worst. We nailed the trade.
Same thinking. We don't mind trades, especially ones that don't cost us much pickwise. We just avoid high-priced free agents.

This is a Dallas deal all the way, acquiring a player who has less value because of age or coming off injury. Doesn't mean it won't be a good one, but it fits right into the wheelhouse of the Joneses' philosophy.

Yeah, it is not a GREAT SIGN. It is a good one but that is all. Like getting Hankins during the season.
Still going bargain basement except this time with picks instead of money

The good part of it is that Gilmore is coming off a very good season. A lot of the time the name players we acquire during the offseason are coming off poor to so-so seasons, which is why they are cheap.

It is mind boggling to trade for a corner instead of a WR

The CB class is deep while outside of my man JSN, the WR class is subpar
Signing a 32 year old CB with no guaranteed money after this year does not preclude us from drafting a CB, or two, especially in a deep CB draft.

They didn't give up much for him but this is like Rocky Colavito being traded to the Yankees.

We still need another big talented run stuffer. Hopefully, that is coming soon!
Right now I’d say guard, DT and impact WR are biggest needs. DT at 26 is really tough and I expect WR will get picked over early because they’ve got so expensive
Hankins helps but ideally we could get a young guy who can hold up to a double team and push the picket on passing downs
I expect Williams to be better this year but inside we are still weak

This was a really good move. It speaks of win now which everyone has been screaming for.

I do not understand how everyone is not ecstatic about this trade ....... The guy was a top ten cb last year ....... The colts fans are heartbroken about this calling him the only bright spot on their D

If you are not happy about this, nothing will satisfy you
