TRADED Colts trade five-time Pro Bowl CB Stephon Gilmore to the Cowboys for a 5th round pick

Goodbye Kelvin Joseph. It has been nice.
Probably, but let's at least give him a third year of camp to see if we can get anything out of him. I'm OK with trading and moving on, but it takes some players a few years to acclimate to the NFL, especially a player who has played as little as he has. Plus, he's one of our top special-teammers as a gunner.

Corners are an interesting bunch healthwise as several seem to be able to play well into their mid-30s-plus while others fall off the cliff early. Based on last year, it seems that Gilmore could fall into that first category.
i agree. plus for what we have now on the team? why aren’t people happy about this? we really want KJ as our #2? how bout Mukuamu? or Brown coming off an achilles ? this is a great move.

Must have locked Jethro and Jr in a closet somewhere.

This to me looks like a smart move so they couldn't be responsible.

Getting a solid starting CB for a couple of years for a 5th plus whatever salary is a very good move
Maybe they're on the yacht and Quinn and McCarthy convinced McClay to make some moves. The Joneses are going to get back and be very confused and mad.

Despite Gilmore’s age, he’s a better option than Anthony Brown who wasn’t playing well last year before he was injured. This trade should improve us at that position.
Brown wasn't bad other than for about one deep ball per game. Unfortunately, that's a killer.

Jerry finally opened up the pocket book. Gilmore @ $9.92M for one year. The secondary is now complete for 2023.
He's actually willing to do that through trades but not FA. If I remember correctly, Cooper came with a pretty steep contract. I think what the Joneses like to avoid is a bidding war for free agents because that drives the market price up.

He was better than the replacements we rolled out there after his injury, but he still wasn’t very good, which is why we made this trade.

If he's washed it just happened. He was far from washed last season.

At his age you don't really know what you'll get this season.
Right. This is a typical "cheap" move by Dallas in the offseason. Of the cheap moves they could make, though, I don't mind this one because the reward could be worth it. Obviously, there's risk involved, but we've come to expect any player we acquire to have that caveat.

I figured we'd just re-sign Brown. After all, we could get him cheap coming off the injury.

Actually he turns 33 right at the beginning of the season.

So for all intents and purposes, we traded for a 33 year old CB.

I.e. will be 34 at beginning of next season.

Extremely short sighted...

Prediction: he never starts 10 games as a cowboy.

Probably could have drafted Texas RB Roschon Johnson or Tajee Spears with that pick.
I dont care about age, I care about production............PFF graded him as the 9th best CB in the league last year.

And its a 5th round comp pick, not our own, so we can still draft your RB in the 5th round.

Its a win win.

Spears isn't making out of the third. I'd like to make a wager on him playing 10 games for Dallas.
