Probably, but let's at least give him a third year of camp to see if we can get anything out of him. I'm OK with trading and moving on, but it takes some players a few years to acclimate to the NFL, especially a player who has played as little as he has. Plus, he's one of our top special-teammers as a gunner.Goodbye Kelvin Joseph. It has been nice.
i agree. plus for what we have now on the team? why aren’t people happy about this? we really want KJ as our #2? how bout Mukuamu? or Brown coming off an achilles ? this is a great move.Corners are an interesting bunch healthwise as several seem to be able to play well into their mid-30s-plus while others fall off the cliff early. Based on last year, it seems that Gilmore could fall into that first category.
Same here. A NT needs to be the next priority on our defencive shopping listWow. I actually like Bland but Diggs, Gilly and Bland. could be a nice trio. Now we need to work on our defensive line. I would love to have a beast at DT.
Maybe they're on the yacht and Quinn and McCarthy convinced McClay to make some moves. The Joneses are going to get back and be very confused and mad.Must have locked Jethro and Jr in a closet somewhere.
This to me looks like a smart move so they couldn't be responsible.
Getting a solid starting CB for a couple of years for a 5th plus whatever salary is a very good move
Yup, not a bad pick to give up, and a trade down would probably get a 5th back anyway (among other picks). They gave up the last of their 5th rounders. 176th overall. They still have picks 161 and 169.
Brown wasn't bad other than for about one deep ball per game. Unfortunately, that's a killer.Despite Gilmore’s age, he’s a better option than Anthony Brown who wasn’t playing well last year before he was injured. This trade should improve us at that position.
He's actually willing to do that through trades but not FA. If I remember correctly, Cooper came with a pretty steep contract. I think what the Joneses like to avoid is a bidding war for free agents because that drives the market price up.Jerry finally opened up the pocket book. Gilmore @ $9.92M for one year. The secondary is now complete for 2023.
He was better than the replacements we rolled out there after his injury, but he still wasn’t very good, which is why we made this trade.Brown wasn't bad other than for about one deep ball per game. Unfortunately, that's a killer.
Patrick Peterson lit up the NFL last year at what…39? Terrence Newman balled out into his late 30s after he left Dallas as well.32 years old tho
Exactly...............the meltdown Indy fans are having over just getting a 5th is hilarious, similar to this board when Coop was traded for a 5th.He was traded for so little because Indy is dumping salary.
None couldn't, it would've been a 2nd for us since Miami 3rd was better than ours.Couldve had Ramsey for a third
Right. This is a typical "cheap" move by Dallas in the offseason. Of the cheap moves they could make, though, I don't mind this one because the reward could be worth it. Obviously, there's risk involved, but we've come to expect any player we acquire to have that caveat. If he's washed it just happened. He was far from washed last season.
At his age you don't really know what you'll get this season.
I figured we'd just re-sign Brown. After all, we could get him cheap coming off the injury.i agree. plus for what we have now on the team? why aren’t people happy about this? we really want KJ as our #2? how bout Mukuamu? or Brown coming off an achilles ? this is a great move.
I dont care about age, I care about production............PFF graded him as the 9th best CB in the league last year.Actually he turns 33 right at the beginning of the season.
So for all intents and purposes, we traded for a 33 year old CB.
I.e. will be 34 at beginning of next season.
Extremely short sighted...
Prediction: he never starts 10 games as a cowboy.
Probably could have drafted Texas RB Roschon Johnson or Tajee Spears with that pick.
Spears isn't making out of the third. I'd like to make a wager on him playing 10 games for Dallas.Actually he turns 33 right at the beginning of the season.
