He's actually willing to do that through trades but not FA. If I remember correctly, Cooper came with a pretty steep contract. I think what the Joneses like to avoid is a bidding war for free agents because that drives the market price up.
No doubt the numbers we have seen for the marquis FAs have been crazy. They did give up a lot for Coop, but he completely transformed the offense into a dynamo. Hard for teams pressed against the cap to come away with those guys and not feel the pain in the near future. I like the rent-a-player model for a year or two. Not always ideal to give up a pick, but Gilmore is a really smart and athletic player and will come in as a day 1 starter, creating solid depth/competition with Lewis and Brown nipping at Bland's heels. The Cowboys can draft a project DB who learn a great deal from talent in that room at the Star.

He's going to play STs no matter what.
I'm perfectly fine if Kelvin Joseph isn't on the roster in 2023, but if he is, I'd be interested in Dallas trying him out in some kind of safety/nickel role. The best thing for him is to limit his coverage responsibilities and let him get scrappy near the line of scrimmage. Basically, just treat him like one of those developmental special teams players with secondary flex.

checked a couple Colts message boards, consensus they wished they could have gotten more than a 5, a few are a little mad, a couple consider it a move of respect to give him a place of choice, consensus its a rebuild year

Lol I feel like we could have picked up this guy multiple times in free agency over the years lol how old is he now? I’d rather have Patrick Peterson

I dont care about age, I care about production............PFF graded him as the 9th best CB in the league last year.

And its a 5th round comp pick, not our own, so we can still draft your RB in the 5th round.

Its a win win.
It was absolutely a home run for Dallas. The guy played at a near elite level last year and cost the team basically nothing. Gilmore is smart, serious about his job and has great experience and technique.

That dude you’re arguing with isn’t even a Dallas fan, of course he’s going to crap on it.

Whining about losing the last of 3 5th round picks. Ridiculous.

He thinks Spears is a 5th round pick, lol. He knows nothing, so you shouldn’t waste your time debating him on anything.

For a 5th it's worth it. He's going to be 33, so it won't hurt as much if he underperforms.

This was a no brainer! A top 10 CB for a 5th round pick. Statistically, many 5th round picks NEVER start in the NFL.

I love FA so far! Focus on making the DEFENSE dominant. We still need a stud run stuffing DT or 2, and Bobby Wagner!!! This D would step up to DOMINANT!
Find a way to sign Hopkins and use the draft to add a quality G and depth!
